Pay Rate:

$46.37/hour

 

Category/Shift:

Hourly Full-Time (12-hour rotating shift)

Rotating 12 hour shifts (6am-6pm / 6pm-6am) on a 28 day rotation swinging from nights to days weekly – 36 hours one week, 48 the next week (8 hours built in OT every check).  A total of 7 DAY shifts, 7 NIGHT shifts, and 14 OFF shifts every 28 days.

The Job You Will Perform:

This position supports International Paper’s Columbus Modified Fiber Plant (CMF), located in Columbus, Mississippi.  CMF is a vital part of International Paper’s Global Cellulose Fibers Business.  We are a converting operation that produces specialty fibers used in the production of diapers, filtration products, and other absorbent personal care products.

 

This is a J3 level E&I Technician position responsible for completing scheduled and routine maintenance work along with performing many other duties, both as part of a team and independently.  Duties include, but are not restricted to, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining 575V thru 2300V motor controls, 13.8kV electrical systems, relay logic, PLC systems, DCS and a variety of field instruments, analytical equipment, and final control elements.

 

Position Responsibilities:

 

Install, troubleshoot, repair AC and DC drive systems as well as stand-a-lone process drives of various manufactures Troubleshoot, configure, maintain DCS systems such as Delta V and Honeywell. Install, troubleshoot, maintain 575V through 2300V motors including induction, synchronous, wound rotor, permanent magnet and DC Installation, calibration, troubleshooting various manufactures of analog and SMART instruments and analytical equipment Install, troubleshoot, maintain motor controls including electronic motor protection relays, sizing overloads, and starter maintenance of various manufactures. Shop and field repair of final control elements such as pneumatic valves, electric valves, solenoid operated valves, calibration of pneumatic and SMART valve positioners. Install, troubleshoot, maintain various electrical components such as mechanical limit, proximity, photo electric, speed and reflective switches. Install, program, troubleshoot and maintain PLC systems including associated communication such as DH+, mod_bus, Ethernet. Read, interpret and redline wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, P&ID’s and loop sheets Understand and follow 70E regulations involving Arc Flash and Shock hazards. Communicate with operators while troubleshooting electrical and instrument controls Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on routine and extended annual outages Maintain shops, load centers, DCS work areas to a 5S standard Personally exhibit safety as a core value and effectively communicate a shared vision for safety Represent both company policy and direction Develop knowledge of department and mill operations processes, equipment and systems Assist mechanical craft as needed Utilize excellent communication and interpersonal skills Utilize the International Paper Change Process to drive change Work effectively alone or within a team Utilize strong organization skills to handle multiple tasks effectively Analyze problems and develop solutions independently or with teams Make timely and effective decisions Perform other duties as assigned

Required:

Must be at least age 18 High school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience required Eligible for employment in the US Five (5) or more years industrial E&I maintenance experience Previous multi-skilled E&I maintenance experience Must possess high standards in the areas of safety, quality, ethics, craftsmanship, customer focus, and leadership skills. Skilled in maintenance and troubleshooting of E&I related equipment and process problems Knowledge of key operating areas, PLCs AC & DC drives, analog and digital field instrumentation, and DCS equipment. Must satisfactorily pass pre-employment assessment testing and post offer drug/alcohol screen, background check and physical Able to work in a tobacco-free environment Able to work a rotating shift schedule Able to work overtime Able to work holidays and weekends

 

Preferred:

Two year Associate Degree in any of the IP Core Maintenance skills or related disciplines (Instrumentation or Electrical). Relevant work experience in an industrial environment Strong math/physics understanding Prior experience as a multi-skilled Electrical/Instrumentation Technician
