The Janitor is responsible for ensuring that the Company building and exterior property is kept in a clean, orderly and safe condition.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

The following is not intended to be a comprehensive list of the essential functions of the Janitor position, but rather a general description of some of the requirements necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position. The Janitor must be able to perform the following tasks, among others:

 

Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping and vacuumingGathers and empties trash and recyclingServices, cleans and replenishes washroom suppliesCleans and polishes furniture and fixturesCleans windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges and Dusts furniture, walls, machines and equipmentMixes water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specificationsSteam-cleans or shampoos carpetsStrips, seals, finishes and polishes floorsCleans and restores building interiors damaged, using commercial cleaning equipmentConducts minor handyperson work (hanging pictures, building furniture, replacing light bulbs )Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixturesMonitors building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not createdMoves heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, by using hand trucks, or appropriate supplied equipmentRemoves snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snow blowers, and snow shovels, and spreads snow melting chemicalsNotifies managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systemsRequisitions supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance dutiesSet ups, arranges, and removes decorations, tables, chairs to prepare facilities for events such as Maintains a safe work area and a focus on safety to reduce the opportunity for injury to self or other employeesAccurately maintains proper shift documentation reports, and recordsDemonstrates a cooperative attitude with fellow employees and supervisors while promoting Company valuesMaintains a professional demeanor and appearance including strict adherence to company supplied uniforms, being properly dressed, neatly groomed and with good hygiene according to Company standardsDemonstrates regular and consistent attendance and punctuality in compliance with Company policiesAttends all required in-service training, Company required safety meetings and training and other required meetingsAll other duties as assigned Working Conditions:

The Janitor works in both an office environment and field environment and requires the following physical activities: long periods of standing, walking, considerable use of arms, repetitive hand-wrist motion, and legs and moving the whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of cleaning equipment and materials. The Janitor frequently works in outside weather conditions and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions as well as adverse weather, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibrations.

Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalentTwo (2) years’ relevant experience preferred or any equivalent combination of education and job experience (as determined by the Company)Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products and equipmentKnowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information SystemAbility to read and understand labels and instructions, particularly on the use and application of cleaning chemicals and productsAbility to safety operate a variety of cleaning equipmentAbility to work independently and objectively with little or no supervisionEffective verbal and listening communication skillsDetail orientedAbility to plan ahead and schedule work
