POSITION SUMMARY: Supervisor, Janitorial

 

The Janitorial Supervisor reports to the Program Manager. The Supervisor oversees the daily activities of the janitorial staff. The following are the responsibilities and requirements of the position.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assigning Duties: Janitorial supervisors assign cleaning tasks to staff and regularly inspect their work to ensure that established standards are met. Training/ Mentoring: The janitor supervisor ensures all employees are properly trained to execute their job. Supply Management: They issue cleaning supplies and equipment to janitorial staff as needed, taking inventory and informing management when supplies are depleted. Staff Management: Janitorial supervisors assist with screening and hiring new job applicants, provide training and guidance to janitorial staff, and resolve conflicts efficiently. Attendance and Performance: They monitor staff attendance, report absences, and conduct staff performance reviews. Leadership: Effective leadership skills are essential to ensure the timely completion of staff’s janitorial duties. Quality assurance: They ensure that all work that is assigned is completed correctly and efficiently.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Experience: Proven experience working as a janitorial supervisor. Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, working knowledge of various cleaning methods, and excellent organizational and communication skills. Physical Abilities: The ability to lift heavy equipment and stand for extended periods of time. Customer Service: Exceptional customer service skills are valuable in this role

WORKING CONDITIONS

Ability to work during inclement weather Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 40 lbs (supplies, trash, etc.). Requires frequent lifting, standing, walking, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday. Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection, trainers, etc.). May be subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. Must meet all physical and psychological standards as required by the contract Travel may be required
