Janitor - Temporary

OVERVIEW: 

The Janitor position works under the supervision of the Shelter Director to assist in cleanliness for the Harbor House Family Emergency Shelter.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure floors remain clear of all tripping and other hazards Maintain and ensure all floors are clean, swept, mopped, and/or vacuumed Maintain and ensure all restrooms  Clean designated building areas Perform and document routine inspection Follow all health, safety regulations, and chemical storage and hygiene best practices Empty trash receptacles, recycling and compost bins Ensure unused areas of the building are locked for safety and security Other related duties as required  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or equivalent (required) Experience in janitorial

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and appliances Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and hazardous components Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

 EQUIPMENT USED: 

Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
