As part of the expansion of our Japan coverage and plans to reboot our Japanese language website, we are seeking a journalist to drive our digital strategy for the Japanese market. In this role, you will oversee the curation and management of our Japanese-language website and lead audience outreach initiatives to grow our presence in Japan. Collaborating closely with our Japanese-language reporting teams and Tokyo newsroom, you will identify content that resonates with local audiences, supports the relaunch of one of our largest non-English websites.
This is an opportunity to lead Bloomberg’s digital push into the Japanese market, working at the forefront of a major website relaunch and helping shape the future of our audience engagement in Japan.

We'll trust you to: Lead the strategy and execution of Bloomberg.co.jp, including the homepage revamp Collaborate with the broader newsroom to identify and curate content tailored for a Japanese digital audience Monitor website traffic and adjust strategies to enhance audience engagement and outreach Build and eventually manage a team focused on delivering impactful content for local and global readers
You'll need to have: At least 7 years of experience as a journalist, editor, or in a similar newsroom role Expertise in digital news environments, with experience in Japan or international markets Strong editorial judgment and a deep understanding of Japanese media consumption habits Proven ability to leverage audience analytics to shape content strategies in a newsroom setting Exceptional writing and editing skills in Japanese, with the ability to craft stories that resonate with readers Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across diverse teams Native-level proficiency in Japanese and business-level English Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization Life at Bloomberg is many things, but it’s never dull.
