Japan Finance Senior Analyst

Job Summary

The role is accountable to ensure quality and timely deliverables of the financial processes for our Japan Business Unit, as part of Manulife Finance vision of creating a Global Finance Shared Services Team.

We are a Global Finance Shared Service Center consisting of highly motivated and experienced professionals committed to excellence in customer service.

Role and Responsibilities

Reporting directly to Finance Operation Manager, the Financial Analyst is primarily accountable for administration, general accounting and reporting through timely and accurate service delivery.

Responsibilities include the following:

Technology / Administration support:Help Desk Functionality – responsible for ledger-related database administration, access control, finance system/excel tools user interface troubleshooting, user manual creation and maintenance. Serve as the business unit point of contact for any process issues or task specific queries.  Communicate and ensure issues resolution with relevant stakeholders in multiple regions.Administration Support  – Responsible for IT access rights submission and follows-up for Finance members including but not limited to  new joiners/transfer, support with engagement activities including Sharepoint, Yammer, Email communications.

Accounting and ReportingAccounting Operations – responsible in preparing, uploading, analyzing of Journal Entry to facilitate month-end closing activities.Treasury Operations – responsible in ensure successful payment process in Finance through the Lawson Accounts Payable and Cash Book system.Management Reporting – to support needs of different internal or external parties.

Qualifications

Fluency in English and Japanese written and verbal communication skills.3+ years of working experience with progressive responsibility within the Accounting and management reporting fieldAccounting University degree in accounting, finance, or business management. CA/CPA qualification, preferred.Knowledge of Japanese generally accepted accounting principles (“JGAAP”) preferred.Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Excel (i.e. mastery of excel formulas and pivot tables is a must; VBA is a plus). Proficient in MS Office suite including Outlook, Word and Power Point.Keen attention to details and ability to work in a fast-paced environmentExperience in a shared service set-up and transition experience is an advantageExcellent organization, presentation, and communication skillsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Solid interpersonal skills to interact and establish relationships with the international business units. Ability to work effectively across culturesAbility to makes sound decisions in the absence of rules and /or in complex situationsAbility to work in ambiguous environment and adapt to change while managing time and workload with aggressive timelines.
