Job Description:

Are you a software engineer looking to improve and enhance mission-critical software applications? Do you want to design and develop customer software that will be deployed in systems helping make the country a safer place?

Parsons' Defense and Intelligence Market is looking for a self-starter who will be able to derive software requirements from customer interaction, take the lead in proposing new software capabilities, and identify improvements to existing software systems.

Additionally, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop, accomplish, and excel in each of the following functions:

Lead a software development effort, and create a roadmap for capability developmentConduct rapid software prototyping to demonstrate and evaluate technologiesConduct applied research in the areas of current and emerging computer technology and make recommendations based on research and analysisInvestigate commercial and custom SDKs and APIs to identify additional integration capabilitiesDevelop and maintain software development architecture, and make recommendations for improvementConduct hands-on programming using JavaWrite highly efficient, multithreaded codeDevelop, compile, debug, test, deploy, document, and implement programs for new and existing systems (COTS / GOTS / Proprietary)Interface and communicate with other development teams for collaboration and integration effortsThe ideal candidate will develop scalable web-based data visualization and analytic platforms using Java, JavaScript (TypeScript), Angular, SPA, Servlets, Web services, ETL Pipelines, databases (Elasticsearch, MariaDB), Docker, Python

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fieldsMinimum of 2-3 years of hands-on software development experience in JavaExperience with popular open source Java libraries and frameworks

Desired Qualifications:

Experience using Web and API frameworks such as RESTEasy, XML, JSON, Servlets etc.Experience in application/web server environment like Spring BootExperience using GitExperience using build tools such as Gradle or MavenFamiliarity with DevOps and Continuous Integration toolsets and conceptsExperience interfacing with back-end applications, for example, using RESTful web services, message queues, gRPC, JSON, YAML etc.Knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MariaDBExperience working in Linux development and production environmentsSkills relating to: Java, Spring, ETL Pipelines, Webservices, REST APIs, system performance/optimizationsDatabase/IPC (inter-process communication) experience: Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, LDAP, Redis, RabbitMQExperience with front-end technologies such as Angular, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript (TypeScript), Material UIExperience with scripting languages and integration tools such as Bash, Python, Jenkins, Ansible, DockerFamiliarity with networking concepts and protocols

Salary Range: 

$117,000.00 - $227,900.00
