Java Developer

Harmonia Holdings has an exciting opportunity for an Java Developer to join our rapidly growing team supporting a federal government client.    

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Designs highly scalable software solutions to improve functionality and system longevity Collaborates with project managers to implement end-to-end solutions for complex projects Analyzes current systems to maintain integrity and improve architecture Remains informed of current trends and technology developments Translates application storyboards and use cases into functional applications Designs, builds, and maintains efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code Ensures the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the applications Identifies bottlenecks and bugs while providing solutions to problems

Required education and experience:

3+ years of experience as a Java developer Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or IT-related career field (preferred) Strong working knowledge of the Spring Framework Strong development experience & capability using JEE, JMS, JSP / Servlets; JavaScript (jQuery, Angular JS), HTML 5, and CSS

Required CERTIFICATIONS:

CompTIA Security+ Java 8 OCA or Java 8 OCP

Highly desired skills:

 

Working knowledge of Oracle Database Expertise in agile and scrum development cycles Solid understanding of object-oriented programming Familiarity with various design and architectural patterns Knowledge of web services and related technologies Familiarity with MVC, JDBC, and RESTful concepts Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application Ability to create database schemas that represent and support business processes Ability to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests Experience with QA duties Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Subversion and Git Familiarity with build tools such as Ant and Maven Familiarity with continuous integration Familiarity with the Atlassian Suite of tools
