COMPENSATION
Hourly Minimum - Maximum$45.00 - $58.00JOB SUMMARY
The Job Captain will be responsible for the administration of architectural projects, controls operations, and ensure each project follows building codes and project specification. They will work under the direction of the Design Manager and assist with producing, coordinating, and maintaining technical designs and construction documents and timeline.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
General Project Administration
Monitor project schedules. Assist the Design Manager/s in reviewing current and future workload to determine staff assignments. Assist the Design Manager/s with researching and collecting information. Document and distribute all critical project information to appropriate team members and outside parties. Maintain professional and congenial relationship with all staff and consultants. Monitor the performance of the drafting personnel and provide assessment to Design Manager/s. Provide information, developmental support and training to Drafter and Designer team members.Contract Document Production
Host and/or attend Project Kick-off Meetings. Verify site-specific requirements and that approval has been obtained. Identify jurisdictional requirements i.e., applicable codes, submittal/plan check processes, etc. Develop “cartoon set” of drawings in advance of preparation of contract documents based on Association CAD standards. Determine and oversee the development of additional detailing as required. Review project finishes. Monitor the progress and quality of drawings. Verify, enforce compliance and perform periodic reviews to ensure quality and accuracy. Monitor the development and coordination of consultant drawings. Assist Design Manager/s in compiling project specification requirements and editing. Assist Designers and Drafters with preparing and submitting drawings for plan check. Review plan check comments and resubmit as required. Assist Designers and Drafters with issuing bid documents as directed by the Project Manager. Assist Designers and Drafters with revising plans, issuing addenda, and responding to contractor questions. Assist Designers and Drafters with issuing construction documents and construction change directives as directed by the Project Manager; and responding to contractor RFI’s during construction. Assist Design Manager/Project Team in closing out project, i.e., archiving files, drawings, etc.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related degree from four-year college required. Minimum 10 years of related architectural experience. Minimum 5 years of experience in a Job Captain or related role. Valid California Driver’s License, including state required levels of active auto insurance. Proficiency in AutoCAD (latest version), Revit, and other business software. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Project required. Able to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management. Ability to contribute to a team environment and promote positive organization relations. Strong planning, analytical, and organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to function in high-pressure situations. Strong ability to self-motivate and be self-directed. Knowledge of codes. Able to successfully complete the permitting process with aid and supervision of the Design Manager and/or Project Manager. Able to professionally interact with building department officials, contractors, and consultants. Ability to accurately comprehend construction documents and specifications. Knowledge of addenda and construction change directive procedures. Knowledge of construction materials, methods and practices. Understanding of architectural design and related fields.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Working knowledge of Sketchup is preferred. Knowledge of OSHA, SWPPP, AQMD and related requirements is preferred. California Architecture License preferred.COMPETITVE BENEFITS
