Position Definition: The person holding this position will be responsible for providing training and support for students involved in community-based vocational instruction and preparing them for the school to work transition. Relationship: TheJob Coachis directly responsible to the Supervisor of Special Programs and Services. Qualifications: Education/Experience:
+ High school diploma or GED.
+ Excellent driving record.
+ Experience with transporting students, preferred.
+ Must have a valid driver’s license.
Skills/Knowledge:
+ Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated by patience, understanding, and congeniality.
+ Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.
+ Demonstrates general knowledge of Carbon and Lehigh Counties pertaining to location of cities, towns, schools, and businesses.
+ Demonstrates the ability to proficiently collect and enter data related to student achievement.
+ Demonstrates the ability to utilize an iPad efficiently.
+ Demonstrates the ability to maintain composure while driving a vehicle with students on board.
+ Demonstrates the ability to organize, plan, and manage job responsibilities in order to complete assignments with minimum supervision.
+ Demonstrates the ability to work independently.
+ Demonstrates knowledge of Special Programs and Services departmental procedures.
+ Demonstrates awareness of student’s disability as it relates to the implications in the work place and the effects in transitioning to adult life.
+ Demonstrates the ability to execute job tasks and break activities down into small steps.

+ Demonstrates the ability to maintain complete confidentiality.

+ Ability to conduct a safety restraint protocol which requires:

+ Communicates with students of varying disabilities clearly, precisely, and with respect and sensitivity.
+ Effectively multi-tasks within deadlines, in accordance with WBLP guidelines.
+ Utilizes technology effectively, including, but not limited to, internet, email, iPads, and GPS.
+ Participates effectively in implementing the IEP after reviewing the referral form indicating specific specially designed instructions and accommodations and, if needed, consulting WBLP Teacher and in accordance with WBLP guidelines.
+ Demonstrates sensitivity to the diversity of individuals, students, and families.
+ Provides one-on-one and/or small group assistance for students at community employment sites and/or educational sites.
+ Monitors, models, and/or assists students to guarantee skill development while at a site with students.
+ Maintains a safe learning environment by using universal precautions, independent community travel strategies, and behavioral/social interventions.
+ Delivers strategies and uses equipment, materials, and technologies to accomplish individual student objectives, in accordance with the IEP and WBLP guidelines.
+ Accurately monitors, records, and reports the progress of each student, as directed through the use of WBLP tools, such as, but not limited to, task analysis, observational data, rubrics, graphs, and narratives.
+ Follows itinerant daily scheduling of students.
+ Exercises objective and prudent judgment in making decisions and considering alternatives in making decisions.
+ Communicates consistently with the Supervisor and/or WBLP teachers regarding pertinent information about concerns regarding schedules, sites, students, parents, and teachers.
+ Serves as an employer liaison, maintaining a positive and respectful work relationship with work site staff, supervisors, and other program staff, treating each equitably and professionally.
+ Assists in developing business sites, including researching available and appropriate job sites, making initial business contacts, distributing program information, and getting contracts signed.
