We have an amazing opportunity for a new Director of Safety to join our corporate human resources team immediately, within our Houston, TX based corporate office. As the Director of Safety, you lead all Elior North America’s safety initiatives and drive how we progress forward as an organization with a strong focus on our continuous improvement. You report into the EVP of HR and are responsible for identifying and mitigating risks while ensuring alignment with company and organizational strategy. Your expertise in continuous improvement of Safety Management, Crisis Management and Compliance Management systems will be imperative for success. You are responsible for the leadership, innovation, governance, and facilitation of all processes necessary to identify, evaluate, mitigate, and monitor operational and strategic risk related to operational and functional safety. You will also develop and implement Safety Management tools, policies, and practices to analyze and report and manage enterprise risks and provide routine reporting to the Executive Team and Elior Group. You will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to environmental safety and manage all contact with appropriate agencies

What you'll be doing: Manage and monitor all operational and functional safety related activities of the organization. Monitor and analyze operational safety risks within the company’s business units and ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Develop, design, operate, and ensure continuous improvement of the safety program in accordance with industry standards. Develop, design, train, implement and manage Elior North America Business Continuity Plan. Assess existing safety strategy and define, align with operational leaders, project manage and communicate new safety 5-year plan. Evaluate safety performance and establish year on year improvement goals, provide guidance and support to operational teams to achieve success. Review behavioral-based safety techniques to improve/maintain safety performance. Lead the annual risk assessment process jointly with Group Audit and Compliance. Integrate Risk and Safety strategy into KPI’s and performance evaluation measurement. Project manage key safety objectives – from concept through to implementation. Participate in industry and trade associations as needed to continue developing knowledge of best practices in the risk management and strategic planning areas. Work closely with CEO, CFO, EVP, HR, Legal and Operations Leaders/Managers and Executive Safety Sponsors to cultivate ENA Safety Culture. Provide safety SME support to M&A activity, assessing new organizations existing safety programs and manage and support transition to ENA safety programs. Provide meaningful and timely reporting to segment leaders and ESS network to identify areas of risk and drive continuous improvement. Serve as the corporate health and safety subject matter expert with clients, regulators, and ENA staff working on projects or designing proposal responses. Assess, develop and manage Health and Safety resources and related departmental budgets. Collaborate with Risk Management in evaluating and providing recommendations regarding selection of insurance policies. Collaborate with the Risk team in gathering and submitting insurance policy renewal data. Work within the corporate framework to foster the career growth of direct reports. Serve as the primary contact on health and safety issues. Create, manage and review site specific health and safety plans. Appraise and implement new safety regulations as they relate to ENA operations. Ensure that management personnel are adequately trained in emergency response plan procedures. Work as the internal Crisis incident manager, ensuring that safety emergencies and injuries are properly managed, offering guidance to SMEs to ensure appropriate crisis management and corrective actions implemented. Evaluate safety vendor agreements (SOW’s) to secure best commercial outcomes for Elior North America. Manage safety vendor relationships to secure best outcomes for Elior North America. Evaluate Elior North America safety programs and update and communicate in line with current regulatory requirements. Continuous horizon scanning to ensure Elior North America safety programs remain robust and meet regulatory compliance needs. What we're looking for: Bachelors degree in Business or related field of study from an accredited college or university; will consider a combination of experience and/or education. 10+ years of experience in Safety Program Management, Safety Management System practice or related experience. 5+ years of management experience (Directorship/Functional Leadership). Detailed knowledge of federal and food safety legislation (FDA / FSMA) with appropriate certifications. Ability to travel up to 20% of the time. Ability to understand industry governing regulatory and legal requirements. Ability to establish positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Experience working with cross-functional teams and to work closely with senior leadership. Strong strategic planning, budgeting and business acumen, an innovative thinker, customer focused, and results focused. Thorough knowledge of OSHA and FDA requirements. Strong organizational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage, motivate, communicate objectives, and action plans. Be bold and influential - Able to challenge current practices, policies and procedures to strengthen our safety culture and drive continuous improvement. Proficient use of computer and corresponding programs – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and RMIS. Ability to implement behavioral-based safety techniques to improve/maintain safety performance.
