Summary

The purpose of this position is to move all trailers from the staging area or wash pad to the loading dock to be loaded and then move the trailers back to the staging are or wash pad.  To take inventory and keep trailer temperature of loaded trailers.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities Check fuel, oil, brakes, lights, horn, and tires before operating the jockey and report any discrepancies to the supervisor and maintenance. Move trailers to and from staging area, wash pad, and loading dock using proper driving, safety, and parking techniques. Utilize a 160-210 lb. pressure water hose to wash out trailers to meet USDA and QA standards for use.  Must ensure each trailer is pre-cooled and properly fueled before moving for shipping of product. Must visually and manually check each trailer to ensure it is properly hooked to jockey before moving.  Respond to shipping supervisor's requests on and as-needed basis. Adhere to all safety requirements including PPE, preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures and process safety management related matters. Minimum Education

Strong reading, writing, math skills and a high school diploma or GED preferred.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements Wear protective equipment as required by Perdue; exposed to plant and seasonal weather and temperature conditions' exposed to noise level of 85-95db. Exposed to chlorinated water vapor 20ppm; must have mobility to travel through out all parts of the plant with constant climbing, bending, twisting and lifting. 1 hour in a single interval with 1 to 3 repetitions per minute. Exposed to carbon dioxide vapors (10ppm), carbon fuel fumes, lubricating oil and hydraulic oil. Use of mechanic hand tools. Must be able to operate a truck/tractor. Occasional upright variable position. 4 to 8 hours of variable sitting. Bending at a maximum 90 tp 120 degrees forward angle. Less than 30 degrees maximum twisting angle forward. Maximum weight lifted is 10 to 20 lb. Floor level starting position height of lift. The final position height of lift is 5 t 6 ft. The extension reach during lift is 0 to 6 inches. Bending over body position during lift. Occasional grasping equipment hand tools with both hands.  Occasional reaching at a forward distance of 6 to 122 inches, and a side distance of less than 10 degrees.
