Position Description:

Barrick Hemlo is seeking a skilled Journeyman Carpenter (Red Seal) to support the construction, maintenance, and repair of infrastructure at our mining operation. This role is essential to ensuring the safety, functionality, and efficiency of buildings and structures across the site. The successful candidate will bring expertise in carpentry, a strong commitment to safety, and the flexibility to assist in various trade-related tasks as needed.

Responsibilities:

Perform a wide range of carpentry tasks, including framing, drywall installation, and finishing work. Construct, maintain, and repair mine-site facilities, ensuring compliance with safety and building standards. Operate and maintain woodworking tools and equipment such as table saws, mitre saws, drill presses, and air tools. Assist with plumbing and sewer system repairs and installations as required. Work collaboratively with other trades, including Millwrights and Welders, to complete maintenance and construction projects. Operate or be willing to train on equipment such as Genie Booms. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following strict safety protocols and procedures. Support emergency repairs and respond to maintenance issues as they arise. Willingness to train as a spare Water Treatment Plant Operator. Perform other duties as assigned to support site operations. Other duties as required and assigned.

 

 

Qualifications:

Journeyman Carpenter (Red Seal) certification required. Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 5-10 years of carpentry experience, preferably in an industrial, mining, or manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of plumbing and sewer systems required. Valid Class G required. Physically capable of lifting and handling materials over 50 lbs in challenging conditions. Adaptability to work in extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and dusty environments. Willingness to work varied shifts and schedules based on operational requirements. The position is for a 4 days on 3 days on 10 hour shift schedule, however Barrick Hemlo reserves the right to change/alter schedules based on operational needs.
