Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Journeyman Electrician to join our Team on Projects in Virginia! This role is key to many current and upcoming major electrical systems installation projects.

As an Electrician Journeyman, performs a variety of electrical trade functions for the installation and maintenance of all electrical systems, MCC’s motor control centers, switchgear, PLC’s programable logic controllers and other electrical infrastructure for various special systems installations such as electronic security systems and Fire Alarms, Mass Notification equipment.

Work involves the following: installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical systems equipment and their associated control panels, overcurrent protection devices, circuit breakers, conduit systems, or other equipment; working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment, and using a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments. Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

What You'll Be Doing:

Installing major electrical systems and electrical infrastructureInstalling industrial controls infrastructure (PLC’s, MCC’s, Switchgear, Main electrical distribution infrastructure)Read blueprints and schematics.Document repairs and modifications.Manage and mentor apprentice electricians.Work with architects, contractors, and clients.Diagnose and address functionality and safety issues.Install indoor and outdoor electrical control, wiring and lighting systems.Inspect and test electrical systems, including fuses, transformers, and circuit breakers.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

Licensed ElectricianKnowledge of National Electric Code, state, and local building codesHigh school diploma or GEDAuthorization to work in the United StatesValid driver’s license – Clean Driving RecordCompletion of a journey-level training and apprenticeship program with verification / certificationsPass a substance abuse testAbility to lift, carry, and push a minimum of 50 pounds, unassistedAbility to communicate with a team effectively and using modern management applicationsApplicable electrical license required by the state of Virginia or one that reciprocates with VirginiaWillingness to work overtimePerfect color vision to accurately identify wiresGood hand-eye coordination, physical fitness, and balanceComputer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) preferred.Use of testing equipment and hand tools.Must be willing to conduct trench work running pipeCommunication skills, ability to interact with other skilled trade professionals, designers, and clients.Ability to work well individually and as part of a teamPrior experience working as an electrician journeyman – verifiable w/ references
