Journeyman Electrician

VOLT is hiring for a Journeyman Electrician in Santa Clara, California.

This position involves industrial electrical work and your responsibilities will include:

\r\n\r\n\r\n\tTroubleshooting, installation, and documentation of electrical and control needs for facility switchgear, breaker panels, lighting, and process equipment in an industrial environment.\r\n\tImportantly, this is not a helper position; you’ll be directly responsible for maintaining and assisting site engineering teams to meet electrical requirements.\r\n\tMaintain current and future plant electrical systems.\r\n\tSupport plant electrical expansion projects.\r\n\tAdhere to Federal, State, and Local electrical codes and be familiar with NFPA70e.\r\n\tAssist in designing electrical systems.\r\n\tRepair all plant electrical items.\r\n\tCollaborate with electrical service companies, engineers, and plant leadership to ensure the local grid functions optimally.\r\n\tMay be required to maintain and improve control systems, install electrical subpanels/services, and buss plugs.\r\n\tDiagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair process/production machines and related electrical equipment, including electrical control circuits from instrumentation devices, PLCs/ladder logic controllers, and variable frequency drives.\r\n\tEffectively communicate with site management and customers to understand requirements, solve complex electrical problems, and provide manufacturing solutions.\r\n\tIdentify and correct safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations.\r\n\tProcure parts from crib systems, OEMs, or authorized vendors.\r\n\tIdentify and document cost savings.\r\n\tUtilize strong electrical skills to complete assignments.\r\n\tCreate and modify site operations procedures for equipment and recommend facilities reliability improvements.\r\n\tProvide instruction, mentorship, and training to less skilled technicians.\r\n\tPerform preventive maintenance on process/production equipment as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).\r\n\tRespond to work orders, ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards.\r\n\tRecommend activities to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.\r\n\tAnalyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving them.\r\n\tUnderstand company policies and enforce safety regulations.\r\n\tSafely perform functions, including following proper safety guidelines (job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures) and wearing PPE as required.\r\n\tOperate various measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments to provide energy efficiency solutions.\r\n\r\n\r\n

\r\nMinimum Qualifications:

\r\n\r\n\r\n\tMust have a current CA State Electrical License.\r\n\tHigh school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.\r\n\t6 years’ experience as an electrician in an industrial environment, maintenance shop, or manufacturing facility.\r\n\tExperience with repair on electrical equipment in an industrial environment or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.\r\n\tMust be self-motivated and demonstrate strong organizational/time management skills needed to be successful in this role.\r\n\tQualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment background check and substance abuse test.\r\n\tMust have the ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.\r\n\tMust be self-motivated and demonstrate strong organizational/time management skills needed to be successful in this role.\r\n\r\n\r\n

Preferred Qualifications:

\r\n\r\n\r\n\tExperience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial production systems such as switchgear, MCC’s, and Capacitor banks.\r\n\tExperience working around chemicals, precision equipment, and highly regulated materials and equipment.\r\n\tExperience troubleshooting complex electrical systems.\r\n\tExperience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing pumps, motors, gearboxes, supply and exhaust fans, power transmission components.\r\n\tExperience troubleshooting and repairing cranes and hoists.\r\n\tExperience utilizing measurement tools such as micrometers, dial indicators, various type gauges, and calibers to set tolerances to OEM Specifications.\r\n\r\n\r\n

Pay Rate: $50.00 – 75.00/hour

\r\n\r\n
