The Opportunity:

The Journeyman Mechanic will have complete involvement in routine or emergency maintenance as well as corrective, preventive, predictive maintenance and basic care for all mechanical equipment and its related components within a manufacturing industrial environment. The Journeyman Mechanic is expected to have basic electrical knowledge, i.e. the ability to swap out like for like replacement of motors, answer trouble calls, troubleshoot, inspects, repairs, and maintains production and process equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specification.

 

Requirements:

 

High School diploma or G.E.D. with significant work experience.A basic working knowledge of millwright, pipe fitter, metal worker, and mechanic trades including proper tool usage, lubrication, Motors, Drives, PLC’s, reading electrical diagrams, operating electrical test equipment, troubleshooting and repair electrical circuits, drive components, v-belt drives, chain drives, speed reducers, bearings, pumps, piping systems, basic arc welding and burning, hydraulics, and troubleshooting techniques which must be gained through a combination of experience and on the job training.Must be 18 years of age

 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required for Essential Functions.

 

Ability to read and examine blueprints, engineering drawings, and process and instrument diagrams.Ability to understand and switch back and forth between the metric and English measuring system.Ability to trade off, or substitute for various crafts.Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical control circuits for motors, PLC hardware and software and control devices for various electrical devices.Test, inspect, clean, repair, dismantle, adjust, replace, assemble and maintain all manual or automatic AC and DC systems, electrical equipment, transformers, switch gear, control panels, regulators, distribution systems, generation systems and various other electrical componentsAbility to carry out tasks, which require a sequence of steps, and also deal with upset conditions that may affect or modify normal operational parameters.Ability to select and properly use personal protective equipment according to the specific hazard or hazards in accordance with Department requirements.Preferred Welding skills should include carbon steel, TIG, MIG, arc, and pipe fabricating and repair.A basic knowledge of rigging and hoisting fundamentals including safe load calculation and hand signals, slings, cables, chokers, and shackles.Basic electrical/electronic theory and terminology.Ability to operate test equipment.Full knowledge of safety regulations with emphasis on energy isolation, lockout/tagout, and line breaking procedures.Must be able keep management informed of issues, be forward thinking, and work independently with minimal supervisory oversight.


The starting rate for this position is $38.28, depending on your role, level and location.
