**Journeyman Shipfitter - Immediately Hiring - San Diego, CA**
**Job Description**
+ As a Journeyman Shipfitter, you will be responsible for assembling, cutting, and grinding metal structural parts including plates, bulkheads, strong backs, turnbuckles, and come-along.
+ You will align parts in relation to each other, tack and weld foundation and structural members, perform layout work according to blueprints or reference lines, and mark the location of holes to be drilled.
+ Additionally, you will drive wedges and install temporary fasteners to hold parts in place for welding.
**Responsibilities**
+ Work with presses, floor shaping, forming plates, shaping from templates, marking symbols, doors, hatches, and scuttles.
+ Lay out blueprints and outfitting items.
+ Check and fit materials, tack weld various sub-assemblies peculiar to the panel line and shell area such as decks, bulkheads, and side shells.
+ Work on ship ways with the erection of units and installation of structural items.
+ Install structural outfit items, doors, ladders, and foundations.
+ Effectively sequence assembly and fitting.
+ Correctly use heating torches in plate heat straightening and shrinkage.
+ Use hand and power tools.
+ Perform shop and field fabrication.
+ Adhere to industry codes, regulations, and specifications.
+ Comprehend blueprints, sketches, and templates.
+ Tack weld.
+ Install simple systems without templates and perform riveted and deck inserting.

**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $33.32 - $33.32
