Jr. Cost Accountant
Description The Junior Cost Accountant is responsible for assisting with the analysis, tracking, and reporting of production costs to help ensure accurate financial reporting. This role involves collecting data on material, labor, and overhead costs, and supporting the preparation of cost reports. The Junior Cost Accountant will work closely with the finance and production teams to monitor cost variances, update cost standards, and assist with inventory valuation and reconciliation. Key responsibilities include analyzing cost data, preparing reports, and supporting the month-end closing process. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software are critical to the success of this role. Key Responsibilities: + Assist in analyzing and tracking production costs, including materials, labor, and overhead + Prepare cost reports and support the development of standard costs + Review cost variances and collaborate with production teams to resolve discrepancies + Assist with inventory valuation, reconciliation, and reporting + Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to cost accounting + Update and maintain accurate cost data in the accounting system + Help develop and maintain cost allocation methods and procedures + Assist in preparing reports for management on cost trends, variances, and profitability + Participate in cost audits and provide support for audit inquiries + Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate cost reporting and control Requirements Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field + 1-2 years of experience in cost accounting, manufacturing accounting, or general accounting + Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and concepts + Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Microsoft Excel + Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills + Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams + Strong verbal and written communication skills + Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines + Experience in a manufacturing or production environment is a plus Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
