Jr. Design Engineer
This position is responsible for assisting in the operation of the department. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job-related responsibilities and duties throughout the facility as assigned and/or as necessary. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. + Engineers new to the building automation field will spend a minimum of 3 months in the field, gaining hands-on experience by assisting with project installations. + Design building automation systems for large commercial office buildings, data centers, and educational facilities. + Participate in sales turnover meetings to receive project mechanical drawings, specifications, and details from the sales team. + Apply the appropriate equipment and end devices to provide the most cost-effective solution to meet the project specifications. + Support the preparation of a complete engineering package of all required network diagrams, point-to-point wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, flow diagrams, valve and damper schedules, bill of material, and equipment submittals for approval by the client engineering firm and delivery to the installation team. + Provide technical support for the sales team, installation, and commissioning team as well as technical support for the service division. + Assist Project Manager(s) in ordering projects’ required products and equipment. + Visit sites as required for field engineering building automation retrofits and upgrades or new construction quality control inspections. + Ensure regulatory compliance across a range of federal, state, and local agencies. + Ensure that all quality and safety standards, specifications and policies are met, drive continuous improvements, and collaborate with the team to drive efficiency. + Support a culture based on open/honest dialogue and involvement with all team members that demonstrates the value of their input and engagement in improving performance. + Support a culture of high performance and accountability in employee and site safety as well as other aspects of the business. Requirements + Equivalent experience, or a Bachelor's of Science in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer technology, air conditioning or similar field is preferred. + Knowledge and understanding of industrial HVAC applications, ability to read and understand MEP drawings and specifications is preferred. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office required. + Commitment to our “open door” policy and regular contact with all field employees. + Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills; high quality document and report preparation. + Experience working in an entrepreneurial environment, requiring strong multi-tasking abilities. + Key leadership competencies in addition to high ethical standards, strong values, integrity, drive to deliver results, pride in personal and team performance, decision quality, building effective teams, and action orientation are fundamental imperatives. Salary $75k-$85K DOE.
