Your OpportunityAn opportunity exists in our Waterloo, ON office (hybrid work arrangements will also be considered) for a talented and enthusiastic team member with a keen interest in the natural sciences and stream restoration to join our team and advance their career. This position would include the opportunity to participate in the assessment, design and construction monitoring of stream restoration projects, and will involve working with multi-disciplinary teams for a variety of existing and new clients.
Your Key ResponsibilitiesIn this position as a Junior/Intermediate River Restoration Engineer/Scientist, you will have the opportunity to execute the technical components of river restoration projects while working as part of a team of engineers, scientists and technologists for a range of public and private sector clients. This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual with a passion for ecosystem restoration who wants to expand their abilities in a dynamic work environment. You will report directly to the Stream Restoration Team Lead. Other responsibilities include:
Assisting senior staff with field work, analysis, and design for some of the largest stream restoration projects in Canada; Coordinating design work with technical experts to achieve complex project goals; Completing computational modelling (i.e. HEC-RAS, MIKE FLOOD, SWMHYMO, PCSWMM) to evaluate river stability, floodplain inundation, and aquatic habitat suitability; Preparation of tender documents, construction observation, and post-construction monitoring for bank stabilization and river restoration projects; Perform local and remote field work as required, including the collection of geomorphological field data, environmental sampling, etc.; Assisting senior staff with writing reports and design briefs to document analyses; and Performs other duties as assigned by the senior engineering staff.To learn more about how Stantec is working to restore our natural environment please visit the link below:

Your Capabilities and CredentialsAs the ideal candidate,
You are either registered as an Engineer-in-Training or Geoscientist-in-Training in the Province of Ontario or are eligible for registration. You have minimum 1 year of experience and possess knowledge and/or interest in surveying techniques, design/drafting software (Civil 3D) and natural channel design concepts. You are a self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. You have a valid driver’s license, and you are able to travel away from home for up to a week completing fieldwork in uneven terrain.Education and Experience
Registered as an P.Eng. or P.Geo in the province of Ontario or are eligible for eventual registration.
