Job Details:

Purpose

Management and oversight of the Jackson School's Business Services Office including purchasing, travel, and accounting.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the daily operations of the Jackson School's Business Services Office including procurement, purchasing, travel, entertainment, business contracts, payment processing, inventory, auditing, and unit financial reporting. Directly supervise approximately seven staff responsible for these areas. Ensure compliance to all applicable laws and University policies and practices.

Review and approve financial vouchers processed by the Jackson School's Dean's Office staff and by JSG units using Dean's Office accounts. Review and approve all JSG financial transfers. Review financial documents requiring the approval of the JSG Dean or Chief Business Officer.

Be the subject matter expert on accounting related areas for JSG. Provide guidance and advice to administrative staff in all JSG units when needed or requested. Collaborate with the Chief Business Officer on continuous improvement of JSG accounting policies  and procedures. 

Serve as a consultant to the Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences Chair and administrative staff on accounting and finances. Assist EPS staff with complex issues in these areas when needed.

Provide a high level of professional customer service and collaboration to all members of the JSG and UT community. Participate in routine and ad hoc meetings with JSG unit leaders, supervisors, and faculty on accounting matters. Provide financial reports and metrics to assist decision-makers on accounting-related matters.

Be a liaison with central administrative offices on accounting-related matters. Serve as the CBO-delegate for CUBO.

Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree with no less than eight (8) years work experience performing complex administrative, accounting and/or financial functions.  Demonstrated ability to perform detail-oriented work. Ability to meet deadlines and work cooperatively and supervise in a team environment. Professional demeanor. Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and online software solutions.  Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business administration, or similar discipline, and more than ten (10) years performing complex administrative, accounting and/or financial functions. Experience with University and/or State accounting and financial policies and procedures, as well as demonstrated experience reconciling complex transactions. Time management skills, problem solving mindset, organizational skills, and ability to follow tasks through to completion.  Outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Salary Range

$90,000
