Kibali Gold Mine is seeking to recruit a Jumbo Operator to join and grow our team. 

The key duties are to operate Jumbo Drill Rigs for mine development and install ground support according to quality specifications safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

Reading and interpreting mine plans, drill patterns, and specifications. Adjusting drilling angles, depths, and spacing to optimize rock breakage and efficiency. Installing rock bolts and mesh for ground reinforcement after blasting. Ensuring safety of offsiders and others involved in operation. Demonstrate Mesh, Bolt and Bore skills to effetely cycle development headings. Performing basic maintenance and troubleshooting of the drill, including changing drill bits, hoses, and hydraulic components. Following strict safety protocols.  Using proper ground control techniques to stabilize areas after drilling. Ensuring all drilling activities comply with mine regulations and procedures. Working closely with shift supervisors, engineers, and other miners to execute drilling plans effectively. Maintaining accurate shift reports and drilling logs, including footage drilled and any deviations from the plan. Coordinating with blast crews to ensure smooth blasting operations.  Training and development of trainee underground operators.  Work in compliance with ISO 14001 and 45001 Standards.

Qualification Requirements:

Minimum of secondary or tertiary level education.

Experience and Skills Requirements:

10 years’ experience in underground mining with a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Jumbo Operator. Currently employed in an underground operation as a Jumbo Operator. Detailed knowledge of the operation of large multi-boom Jumbo Drill Rigs. Ability to read and understand detailed survey prints and layouts. Ability to read and understand designed ground support plans. Should be able to report breakdowns according to the specifications on the Jumbo. Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge of Jumbo Drill Rigs. Experience with Sandvik Jumbos (close cabin DT421 Twin Boom) will be advantageous. First Aid Certificate will be an advantage.  Driver’s License. Demonstrated ability work within systems and a work-culture that ensures compliance to safe work procedures and quality work standards. Strong interpersonal and training skills with an uncompromising safety ethic and a focus on quality first.
