The Retail Development Program (RDP) is a fast-paced three-month program designed to prepare recent college graduates for a full-time role at Belk. We offer opportunities in several of our business functions including Merchandising, Planning, Supply Chain and more! The program focuses on key components to support your development: Education, Experience, Exposure, Innovation and Results.
The Retail Development Program – Finance will hire a class of program participants in our Charlotte, NC headquarters. RDPs are required to move and live in the Charlotte, NC Metro area for their first 12 months of employment at Belk.
Financial Planning & Analysis - Position Summary
The Retail Development Program – Financial Planning & Analysis prepares you for your first position in Finance. Associates will participate in professional development classes with the Retail Development Program cohort, complete on-the-job projects, engage with senior leaders across the company, and experience rotational assignments to learn various aspects of Finance such as Store Finance, Sales Inventory and Margin, Treasury and Strategic Reporting. The team supports multiple business units from budgeting, financial projections, and tackling special projects with models. Participants are also matched with mentors to help acclimate to Belk, develop on the job, and identify future career possibilities.
On the Job
Work in a fast paced, dynamic, test and learn environment
Partner with business leaders to understand current state & upcoming risks and opportunities
Develop budget, forecast, and scenario planning reporting for inclusion in executive level
Identify and implement process improvement opportunities in Financial Planning Department
Develop and maintain expense forecasting models/reports for areas of responsibility
Build appropriate pro forma models to support strategic planning initiatives
Identify, quantify, and assist in implementing expense savings ideas
Perform ad hoc analysis on all areas of the business as requested by the Manager of FP&A, Director of FP&A, and CFO
Position Requirements
Bachelor's degree required; Strong academic performance in Finance, Accounting, and Business Analytics (GPA of 3.2 or higher preferred)
Must have graduated within 6 months of May 2025 and able to start full time in June 2025
Prior internship in Corporate Finance, Financial Analysis, Business Analytics, or Banking
Excellent analytical, problem solving, financial modeling and reasoning skills
Open to learning, able to adapt to changing circumstances and reprioritize tasks as needed
Ability to communicate effectively with clients, customers and all levels of the organization
Committed to meeting goals within a dynamic, fast-paced and results oriented environment
Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by Belk for this position now or in the future
