OverviewHighgate/ LUCID is seeking a Junior Designer to join our fast paced, high energy and innovative design team. The candidate will provide support to the senior design team and will have the opportunity to work on all phases of the design process from concept, construction administration and hotel openings. We are looking for a creative, detail oriented and self-motivated individual who possesses great communication and presentation skills, a true passion for design and loves to learn, grow, and contribute to exceptional built environments. This is a non-remote, New York City based position.
Responsibilities Researching materials and furniture specificationsPrepare test fits, space planning, and schematic design schemes by CAD drafting and/or 3D modelDevelop FF&E packages – participating in the selection and documentation of furniture, fixtures, equipment, and material specificationsObtaining and managing samples and relationships with vendorsResearching and obtaining quotes from various vendors and following up on approvalsCoordinating design requests incoming from the hotel propertiesSupporting design staff in executing hotel design projectsSketching floor plans, details and conceptsSupporting the development of presentations that include mood boards, FFE ideas, material palettes, etc.Design document control for new build projectsResearching international design firms for project considerationSupporting the senior design team as needed and directedContribute to office culture and initiatives
Qualifications A professional degree in interior design, architecture, or environmental design is requiredMinimum 2 years of professional experience in an interior and/or architecture design firmHospitality experience preferred but not requiredExcellent written, verbal, and 3D communication skillsExperience in AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, Sketchup, and Microsoft Office. ( Rhino a plus)Composition skills with a passion for stylingHand sketching skills are a plusAbility and willingness to travel which will be around 30%
Salary Range $75,000 - $80,000 per annum, plus bonus, medical, dental and vision benefits, 401K.
