Bart-s Electric philosophy is summarized in the phrase -We give the customer more service than they paid for.- Job Summary:The Junior Estimator supports the estimating team by assisting in the preparation of accurate cost estimates for construction projects. This role involves reviewing project plans and specifications, conducting takeoffs, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure comprehensive and competitive bids. The Junior Estimator will develop proficiency in cost estimation techniques and gain experience in the construction industry to progress towards a more senior estimating role. Key Responsibilities: Electrical Estimation: + + Assist in the preparation of detailed cost estimates for various construction projects. + Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to identify scope and requirements. + Conduct material and labor takeoffs to determine quantities and costs. + Research and analyze material prices, labor rates, and subcontractor quotes. + Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and verify information. + Work closely with senior estimators, project managers, and other team members to gather information and ensure accurate estimates. + Develop scope of work narratives to encompass inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications + Maintain accurate records of estimates, including cost breakdowns and supporting documentation. + Provides technical advice and assistance during pass-over and budgeting process. + Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. + Continuously develop knowledge of estimating practices, industry standards, and construction techniques. Position Qualifications + Education:High school diploma required. + Experience:2-3 years of experience in construction, estimating, or a related field is preferred, but entry-level candidates with relevant internships or coursework may be considered. + Skills: + Strong analytical and mathematical skills. + Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word). + Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., McCormick, Bluebeam) is a plus. + Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. + Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. + Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Work Environment: + Primarily office-based with occasional site visits as required. + Standard office hours with occasional overtime during peak bid periods. Goals: + Develop a thorough understanding of estimating processes and industry practices. + Contribute to the accuracy and competitiveness of project bids. + Build strong relationships with internal team members and customers. + Achieve proficiency in estimating software and tools Added consideration given for a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, and/or Finance.
