(Modeling & Demonstration Focus)
Our Technology & Innovation (T&I) office specializes in creating advanced design solutions and innovative concepts for the marine industry. As a Junior Marine Design Engineer Intern, you will focus on developing detailed, end-to-end digital models to support demonstrations and marketing initiatives. This role provides hands-on experience in showcasing cutting-edge marine engineering solutions, helping to drive engagement with stakeholders and potential clients. Interns may:
Collaborate with senior engineers to design and model complete marine systems or vessels for use in presentations and demonstrations. Develop visually compelling and technically accurate digital twins to showcase workflows, functionality, and innovation. Research and integrate emerging design trends and technologies into models to enhance marketing impact. Produce supporting documentation and visual content, such as technical reports, animations, and renders. Actively participate in brainstorming sessions to explore new ways to market and demonstrate marine engineering capabilities.Examples of potential projects:
Modeling advanced vessel systems for sustainable shipping demonstrations. Creating virtual shipyard environments to illustrate end-to-end workflows. Visualizing ship retrofits for sustainable energy integration. Showcasing digital twin concepts to support the marketing of innovative marine technologies.Requirements:
Enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Mechanical, Marine, or Naval Architecture Engineering. Proficiency in CAD and 3D modeling software (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar). A keen eye for detail and an ability to create visually polished and accurate designs. Basic understanding of ship design principles and marine systems. Preference for upperclassmen with prior internship or co-op experience. Strong communication skills, with an ability to present technical concepts clearly. Proactive, organized, and capable of managing independent tasks and deadlines. Adaptable and quick to learn new tools and techniques.This internship offers a unique opportunity to bridge engineering and marketing, empowering you to contribute to high-impact projects that demonstrate the future of marine design and innovation.
