Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Lube Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance on heavy equipment such as wheel loaders, haul units, portable crushing and screening plants, and other earth moving equipment.  The main objective of the Lube Technician is to perform all lubrication activities to prevent failures and optimize operating costs.

RequirementsMust have a flexible work schedule and be able to work weekendsInspect equipment during lubrication using the latest technologyMaintain lube storage and handling roomProperly dispose of used oil and filtersPrevent and clean oil spills and leaksOrder lubricants as required to maintain optimal stockPM and repair lube systems or equipmentMaintain filters, breathers and other componentsCollect and send oil samples for analysis as per scheduleEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent GED, or work experience requiredMinimum of 2 years heavy equipment experience preferredTrade school or related mechanical/technical certification preferredKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to read, write and verbally communicate in English languageKnowledge of maintenance of heavy equipment/Caterpillar and Komatsu preferredAbility or willingness to learn use of computersAbility or willingness to use mobile devices for e mails, texts and CMMSAbility to work up to 60+ hours a week, depending on business needsPhysical RequirementsWork requires the ability to lift a maximum of 100 lbsMust be able to climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing/walking, balance, bend from trunk, operate mobile equipment, crawl, kneel, push and pull objectsWork requires the ability to perform sustained overhead reachingWork requires the ability to use vibration toolsWork requires the ability to perform work while lying on back for prolonged periods of time and in some cases cramped quartersWork requires the ability to work in areas with the potential for high noise levelsWork is performed 50% outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather and 50% indoorsAble to reason through difficult operations problems, resolve said problems and/or relate same to othersDISCLAIMERThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
