Job Description
The Junior Port Engineer works for and with Port Engineers and Maintenance Engineers in the management of maintenance and repairs to dredging division’s equipment.
Essential Job Functions
● Assist, Port Engineer in all duties and responsibilities
● Assist in preparing and submitting maintenance and capital budgets for assigned equipment
Assist in preparing specifications, scheduling, and management of equipment repair periods for equipment such as boats, barges, industrial barges and dredges, and/or land base heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, dozers and marsh buggies● Frequent equipment and jobsite visits and inspections
● Perform other duties as assigned by Port Engineer or Maintenance Engineers
Qualifications
● 3+ years of experience in related field, Marine, offshore or heavy industrial background preferred
● Associate degree or higher in a marine or engineering discipline preferred
● Proficient skills in AutoCAD a plus
● Proficient skills in standard office software packages
● Ability to work a flexible schedule, additional hours as needed
● Ability to travel extensively
Required Certifications or Licenses
● Valid Driver’s license
Physical Requirements
● Must be willing to successfully complete a post-offer physical, drug screen and Motor Vehicle Record check
● Must be able to tolerate rough seas, vibrations, heat, harsh weather conditions, confined spaces, and high noise levels
● Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies, and parts, up to 50 lbs. unassisted
