Junior Process Engineer EMEA

As a Junior Process Engineer EMEA, you will embark on an exciting journey to master Carmeuse’s key processes and project methodologies through an intensive and efficient training program lasting approximately 1-2 years. You will be assigned to a specific Carmeuse area (e.g., Western Europe, Central Europe, Eastern Europe, Turkey, depending on your location), where you will gain hands-on experience in our field operations.

You will be working at 2 production sites in Slovakia, based in Kosice and Slavec.

Objectives of this position

On-the-Job Learning: Under the guidance of our Training & People Technical Specialist, you will immerse yourself in the daily operations of your local plant(s). This hands-on learning will be complemented by theoretical training, practical exercises, measurements, and field tests to ensure a comprehensive understanding of our processes Curiosity and Knowledge Expansion: You will be encouraged to leverage Carmeuse’s extensive network of plants to broaden your knowledge beyond the processes and installations at your assigned plant or area. By exploring best practices from other locations, you will seek ways to optimize and standardize processes within your area Project Involvement: You will actively participate in projects related to new installations or the renewal of existing ones. This involvement will deepen your understanding of these new installations, allowing you to become a key user and a reference person for these processes.

Your position as a Junior Process Engineer EMEA

Safety Excellence: 

Develop your knowledge to always act in an exemplary manner regarding safety. Integrate safety aspects into all tasks and continuously seek to implement process modifications or improvements that enhance safety and reduce risks

Technical Training:

­Collaborate with our Training & People Technical Specialist to define your training needs and commit to following your training program with dedication and energy Learn the main processes of our industry, including kilns, hydration, and milling, under the guidance of our Training & People Technical Specialist Discover and work on various processes in different European plants, increasing your awareness of the technologies used across different locations.

Operational and Technical Excellence:

Participate in technical audits to assess the state of specific processes and propose improvement ideas Oversee data management and process monitoring review to enhance processes.

Continuous Improvement:

Support the identification and implementation of improvements to optimize production efficiency, costs, quality, and capacity utilization Target to see your improvement proposals materialize in real-world applications.

Business Support:

­Perform various tests outside of regular plant operations (e.g., new fuel injections, production capacity decreases in kilns, new processes) Participate in the commissioning phase of specific projects in your local area, becoming deeply involved in the start-up and handover of new installations, and becoming a key contact person for these systems in the future Address recurrent issues affecting area operations to identify and implement long-term solutions.

Networking and Knowledge Expansion:

Take advantage of opportunities to travel and create a network with other junior engineers and senior experts within the organization Familiarize yourself with the functioning of our plants, learn the complexities of our organization, develop a network, and understand the basics of managerial operations in a plant to be quickly operational when transitioning to an operational role.

Your Profile
Basic Requirements:

Master Engineer (electro-)mechanic, material science or chemistry  English: written & spoken fluently Area language: written & spoken fluently Other foreign languages are a plus (from Carmeuse locations inside Europe)   Valid driving license Willing to travel up to 30 % mostly inside Europe including Turkey.

Needed Knowledge:

Autocad & Office software Heat & Mass balances.

The Process EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Asia) department is a team composed of wonderful people coming from various countries, with different experiences and backgrounds

The Process EMEA team is composed of:

Process engineers EMEA who:  Are responsible for the process part of new projects within EMEA:   Are providing technical advice to project managers Are providing key deliverables: mass & energy balances, process calculations, safety analysis, functionality notes, P&ID, user manual… Commissioning & starting-up the new installations Train local engineers & operators Make trials in or out of existing plants to test new operational processes or improve existing ones Providing supports & audits to existing installation to troubleshoot or improve the operations of the plants Share expertise with local plants and production people. Training & People Technical development Specialist EMEA, who technically train engineers in the EMEA organization A refractory expert EMEA, managing our kiln refractory master plan and expertise through EMEA. 

Your future Manager

Nicolas Vekony is our Process Manager EMEA. He has been in Carmeuse for 13 years, working first in the R&D Group department, then in the Process Europe department.

He has very good knowledge of the different Carmeuse processes and internal reference people, and he is happy to share his experience with his colleagues.

Above all, Nicolas is accessible and is working hard to improve the ways things are done by standardizing them. He also has a special focus on the development of his team members’ knowledge and skills.

He still offers a large autonomy to his team and helps them mainly with their blocking points or specific needs.

He thinks that team spirit, exchange of ideas/experiences and team-working when possible are the cornerstone of a good integration in the company and department.

Your Training & People technical development Specialist

Ionut Neagu is our Training & People Technical development Specialist EMEA. He has been 18 years in Carmeuse, working mainly as a process engineer, refractory expert and plant manager.  

When he started in 2006, he was fascinated by his coach, as she was most of the time available to guide, teach and support him in his learning path. Today he is eager to share his knowledge with newcomers. 

The recruitment Process

Olivia Braszko, our Talent Acquisition Lead will analyze your Résumé and cover letter A first "Teams" interview will be scheduled with Olivia. You will take 2 personality questionnaires. She will want to know more about you, as a person and as a professional. She will assess your motivations and answer to your questions You will have a second interview with Nicolas Vekony (our Process Manager EMEA) and Aurelie Mordant (our HRBP) The last interview will be a technical assessment in which we assess your way of thinking and problem resolution skills. It will take place with Ionut Neagu (our Training People Technical Dev Spec EMEA) and/or Nicolas Vekony. There will be also a local HR part with our CCE HRBP, Michal Kondrot, taking place in Kosice office.
