ABOUT THE POSITION
The Clark County Justice Court is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the position of Justice Court Administrator/Deputy Clerk of the Court. This position serves the dual role as the Deputy Clerk of the Court. The Court Administrator reports to the Chief Judge, who serves as the Clerk of the Court. The Court Administrator directs the various divisions of the court through subordinate division administrators and supervisors, including: criminal, civil, traffic, finance, specialty courts/education, pretrial services, security, information technology, and alternative dispute resolution. In addition, the Court Administrator assists the Chief Judge in planning, overseeing, managing and directing all activities related to short- and long-range capital improvement and development; technological advancements to improve the court’s efficiency and customer service; development of policies and procedures and training of all court staff; preparation and administration of the court’s annual budget; oversight and direction of Justice Court marshals for the safety of the judges, court staff, and public within justice court courtrooms. The Court Administrator serves as a liaison to the Civil Law Self Help Center and county management.
This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Court Administration, Business or Public Administration or a field related to the work AND six (6) years of full-time senior level management experience in a court setting or other legal setting. Possession of appropriate advanced degree is desirable. Equivalent combination of formal education and appropriate related experience may be considered.
Working Conditions: Work with exposure to potentially difficult or dangerous individuals.
Licensing and Certification: Must possess, or obtain within one (1) year of date of employment, NCIC certification.
Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.
Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.
Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent on the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
+ Develops and implements goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for the Justice Court; prepares and administers the department's budget.
+ Plans, organizes, administers, reviews, and evaluates the work of staff through subordinate supervisors.
+ Oversees or provides for the selection, training, professional development, and discipline of staff.
+ Contributes to the overall quality of the department's service provision by developing and coordinating work teams and by reviewing, recommending, and implementing improved policies and procedures.
+ Administers all activities of the Deputy Clerk of the Justice Court.
+ Administers the processing of all forms, documents, and payments for all aspects of the Justice Court.
+ Acts as liaison with and provides professional assistance to judges and other County departments in areas of expertise, acts as court liaison with other agencies, the media, and the public.
+ Ensures the accuracy of all court records and documents; provides for secure storage and appropriate access.
+ Directs the preparation and coordination of the multiple Justice court calendars; monitors and coordinates case processing to ensure the most effective and efficient handling of cases.
+ Manages court facilities in multiple locations; provides for court security and for the upkeep and renovation of such facilities.
+ Confers with court judges regarding laws, policies and administrative programs and procedures.
+ Oversees the maintenance of accurate records, including the automation of the calendaring and record keeping systems; maintains accurate financial records; directs the preparation of and prepares a variety of statistical and narrative reports for local use or submission to various agencies.
+ Conducts studies, analyzes information, evaluates alternatives, and makes recommendations; prepares narrative reports of findings; develops, revises, and implements policies and procedures.
+ Acts as staff and provides technical support to judges, committees, and similar justice groups.
+ Monitors developments and legislation related to court administrative matters, evaluates their impact upon court operations, and initiates necessary operational changes.
+ Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work.
+ Drives a motor vehicle or arranges for transportation to various outlying areas and other off-site work locations in order to attend meetings and conduct other county business.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Must be capable of driving a motor vehicle or arranging for transportation in order to visit various court sites and attend meetings.
