THE JOB:

K-9 Handlers play a crucial role in maintaining safety within their organization by utilizing a highly trained detection dog to locate suspicious packages or objects, thereby mitigating potential threats. They adhere strictly to departmental policies, practices, and procedures to ensure effective and consistent execution of their duties. Through their expertise and partnership with their canine companions, K-9 Handlers contribute significantly to the security and well-being of employees and guests.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

K9 Training Sessions: Conducting daily training sessions with the K9 partner to maintain and improve obedience, agility, detection, or apprehension skills, depending on the dog's specialization.Health and Wellness Checks: Regularly inspecting the K9 for any signs of injury, illness, or discomfort. This includes checking for any cuts, abrasions, or limping, as well as monitoring their appetite, hydration, and overall demeanor.Equipment Maintenance: Ensuring all K9 equipment, such as leashes, harnesses, muzzles, and detection aids, are clean, functional, and in good condition. Regular maintenance of equipment is crucial for the safety and effectiveness of both the K9 and the handler.Administrative Tasks: Completing paperwork and administrative duties related to the K9's activities, such as documenting training progress, logging deployment details, and maintaining records of any incidents or findings during operations.Safety Compliance: Protect guest by utilizing trained K9 partners for security sweeps, detection of potential threats such as explosives or drugs, and providing a visible deterrent to unauthorized persons, ensuring the safety and security of the premises.

 THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

High School Diploma or equivalent.Previous Security experienceFlexible schedule to include varied shifts, weekends, and holidays.Has enthusiasm for investigative workEnjoys helping others and likes to make a good impression.Can handle multiple tasks at one time.Has a customer centric approach.Excellent problem solver who demonstrates composure under pressure.

The typical pay range for this role is:

$22.28 - $36.28

Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.

Should overtime be worked, employees are paid overtime pay in accordance with state requirements.
