Osborne Homestead Museum celebrates her life through programs and tours; the museum includes a significant collection of antiques and fine arts and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Kellogg Environmental Center offers professional development workshops for educators, monthly art exhibits, nature activities, and programs for the general public. Throughout the year, the Center offers special weekend programs, nature walks, and family workshops. Kellogg Environmental Center & Osborne Homestead Museum + Up to 40 hours per week, Tuesday - Saturday and/or Sunday. + Occasional evenings and at least 1 weekend day required. + Resource Assistants may work at both the environmental center and museum. + Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license. Responsibilities may include: + Providing guided tours of the Homestead and historical gardens; + Leading environmental education programs; + Leading historical interpretive programs; + Light gardening or other grounds work + Light cleaning; + Customer service, including answering phones, emails, and greeting visitors; + Light trail maintenance within Osbornedale State Park; and + Clerical and marketing tasks such as creating flyers, writing press releases, scheduling programs & art shows, collecting program data, creating social media posts, etc. Selection Plan 1. PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK) In the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, as a limited duration employee, performs one or more of a variety of tasks and assigned duties of a seasonal nature. KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY Ability to follow instructions. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS + Experience in environmental education, natural resources conservation and/or local/US history; + Experience in teaching; + Experience working in customer service; + Experience working with diverse audiences; + Experience working independently; + Experience working in the outdoors; and + Strong interpersonal skills. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS + Incumbents in this class who are assigned as supervisors of small recreational units will perform emergency first aid as needed and will be required to obtain and retain a Basic First Aid Certificate. + Incumbents in this class may be required for certain positions to meet any of the following: + Proof of possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator license. + Possession of a valid license to apply pesticides. + College training in a specific field. + Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification may be required by specific State facilities. + Incumbents performing lifeguard services must have and retain an American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguarding Certification (includes CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Basic First Aid). An EMT or MRT certification may be substituted for the CPR and First Aid requirements. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS + Incumbents in this class must possess and maintain adequate physical strength and stamina to perform the duties of the class. + Incumbents performing lifeguard services must be able to demonstrate American Red Cross (ARC) waterfront lifeguarding swimming skills.
