Job Title: Animal Care TechnicianJob Description
This role focuses on ensuring the health and well-being of animals by maintaining clean and organized facilities, feeding schedules, and providing exceptional care. You will have the opportunity to work closely with both cats and dogs, ensuring their environment is sanitized and engaging. This position does not require customer interaction, allowing you to concentrate fully on animal care.
Responsibilities
+ Maintain kennels and facility areas to ensure they are organized, sanitized, and free of odors.
+ Feed cats and dogs on a set schedule, ensuring they have access to clean water.
+ Use provided pet toys to play and socialize with the animals.
+ Bathe and groom animals regularly.
+ Prepare pet food for scheduled feedings and manage leftover food appropriately.
+ Maintain documentation on the animals and update records accordingly.
+ Provide a supportive and collaborative environment for team members.
+ Deliver exceptional care to all animals.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with animal research, handling, and science.
+ Demonstrated experience working around large groups of animals is preferred.
+ Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
+ Experience in a similar role such as farm work, grooming, pet store, shelter, humane society, vet clinic, or vet hospital.
+ High school diploma required.
+ At least 6 months of animal care experience in a veterinary environment, kennel, or shelter is strongly preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in animal husbandry, breeding, vivarium, or veterinary settings.
+ Capability to work on feet for extended periods and perform cleaning duties.
Work Environment
You will support the Palatability Assessment Resource Center (PARC) for administering taste trials with the animals. The facility is advanced and team-oriented, with high expectations for constant productivity. You will be exposed to varying temperatures year-round and will typically achieve over 10,000 steps per day. The role includes a two-week rotating schedule, which may involve working weekends and holidays. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $39520.00 - $42120.00/yr.
