Kitchen Aide

OVERVIEW: 

Under the supervision of the Kitchen Supervisor, the Kitchen Aide will assist in food preparation, serving and clean up for daily meals for shelter guests. This includes three meals a day as well as food storage, food inventory and meal reporting for statistics and billing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with food storage, food preparation, cooking and serving daily meals for shelter clients Prepare and clean kitchen areas daily for service and inspections Coordinate and supervise the kitchen volunteers Coordinate and work with other kitchen staff in ordering and inventorying food supplies Other related duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or equivalent (required) 18 years of age (required) Experience in nutritional needs of homeless populations Experience with disadvantaged populations, whether through work, volunteering, or being a member of a disadvantaged population (required) Trained or receiving training on informal mental health/ substance abuse evaluation Have a ServSafe food handling certificate or be able to obtain within first thirty days of employment (company provided)

 SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Bilingual in Spanish (preferred) Ability to coordinate and manage multiple duties Ability to prioritize work and multi-task Ability to communicate effectively and accurately

Relevant kitchen equipment Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
