Position Summary
The Meals on Wheels Kitchen Assistant will provide support to the Meals on Wheels Coordinator to ensure the highest quality of service within the program.
Essential Functions
Assist with daily meal preparation. Ensure kitchen and equipment is kept clean and neat in the working area. Assist Coordinator with maintaining client data base and files. Assist Coordinator in the preparation of the monthly menu. Review and code all bills for processing. Ensure monthly client invoices are generated. Assist on the coordination of meal deliveries. Assist on the ordering of food and supplies. Prepare and plan meals and service for special events. Ensure kitchen and equipment is kept clean and in working order. Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army policies and procedures. Delivery meals and pick up donations when needed Answering phones, taking messages, and providing information to clients, staff, or the public Assisting with special projectsWorking Conditions
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach over head. Ability to operate a computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid California Driver’s License. Food Handlers permit.Skills. Knowledge & Abilities
Driving Test and clean MVR check (if applicable). If working in vicinity of children, a criminal background check is required with certification for Protect the Mission policies and procedures.
