Kitchen Coordinator

OVERVIEW: 

Under the supervision of the Red Shield Program Manager, the Kitchen Coordinator will prepare food for the Red Shield meal programs, serve and clean up daily meals for Red Shield program participants. This includes full meals and snacks every weekday as well as food storage, food inventory and meal reporting for statistics and billing. This position will also work occasional weekends and holidays.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for food storage, food preparation, cooking, and serving daily meals Prepare and clean kitchen areas daily, for service and inspections Coordinate and supervise the kitchen volunteers Oversee the inventory of food supplies Oversee the preparation of food for special events and holidays Other related duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or equivalent (required) CA Driver's license (required) ServSafe food handling certificate ( required within first fourteen days of employment – company provided) Kitchen Manager certification (required) Experience working in a Kitchen (required) Experience in the nutritional needs of seniors, youth and families Experience with disadvantaged populations, whether through work, volunteering or being a member of a disadvantaged population

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Bilingual in Spanish (preferred) Team player Ability to lead

EQUIPMENT USED: 

Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software Relevant kitchen equipment

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lift minimum 50 lbs. (usually food supply deiveries)
