As the Kitchen Helper, you will be a vital member at one of our Alaskan processing facilities and will be responsible for assisting in various kitchen tasks to ensure efficient and hygienic food preparation for the whole crew. You will work under the supervision of the chef and follow specific instructions and adhere to food safety regulations. Additionally, you will also be responsible assisting with the preparation and cooking of meals and maintaining the cleanliness of the breakroom and other locations in the Galley as needed.
Essential Functions/Qualifications
The responsibilities of the position include the following:
Assist in meal preparation as indicated on the menu or as assigned. Assist in serving meals to employees. Wash dishes and cookware, clean tables and floors, empties trash. Maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment, including cleaning equipment, work surfaces, and floors. Restock beverage machines and condiments on a regular basis as necessary. Assist in organizing and securing the food storage lockers. Assisting with packaging and labeling finished products, ensuring accuracy and compliance with food safety regulations. Responsible for basic housekeeping duties such as cleaning and stocking bathrooms and other common areas. Adhering to strict food safety and quality control standards, including proper handling, storage, and preparation. Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a fast-paced environment. Properly disposing of food waste and recycling materials. Monitoring temperatures of food products to maintain food safety standards. Other duties as assigned to ensure the facility and organization is fully supported and successful.Competencies

High School diploma or GED. Proven experience helping in kitchen settings. Sound knowledge of food safety standards and procedures. 6 months' related experience in the Seafood industry or similar training/education. SERV Safe certification preferred. Previous experience in Seafood industry or manufacturing preferred.Work Environment and Schedule
The kitchen environment can be fast-paced and demanding, requiring individuals to work efficiently under pressure. It involves long hours, often including evenings and weekends. The work can be physically demanding, requiring standing for extended periods, lifting heavy objects, and working in hot and humid conditions. Position requires onsite presence at our Alaska Processing Facility, and the ability to travel, spending a significant amount of time during the season at our various locations and processing facilities in Alaska.
Physical Demands
Position is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Employees are frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

This position is regularly required to use teamwork, multitask, and decision-making in a very stressful and fast-paced work environment. Required to pay attention to details and have a high level of accuracy, be flexible and stress resistant. Able to use interpersonal, customer service, problem analysis. The employee will occasionally be required to exercise independent judgment and discretion.
