The Kitchen Steward performs heavy cleaning tasks needed in the department. The Kitchen Steward also assists in storage and rotation of food stock. Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Working Conditions-Physical Requirements & Atmosphere:
Work in and around the general kitchen, cafeteria and dish room area. May work around patient care areas.Physical Effort: Frequently will be reaching, walking, bending over, reaching overhead, crouching, pushing or pulling from 26-100 pounds. Repetitive use of hands/arms, repetitive use of legs, grasping, lifts from 11-50 pounds without assistance. Carrying 10-25 lbs. and eye/hand coordination. Occasionally will be sitting, crawling, climbing, balancing, pushing or pulling over 100 pounds. Lifting 51-100 pounds. In addition to typical food service equipment, will be operating floor scrubber, pallet jack, and trash compactor.Mental Effort: Continuously will be concentrating on tasks, and remembering details. Frequently will be thinking analytically, effective verbal communication, effective written communication, remembering names, making decisions, adjusting to changes, examining/observing details. Occasionally will need to handle stress and emotions and discriminate colors.Performance: Continuously will need to maintain work schedules. Frequently will have irregular hours (weekends every other), attend work related meetings, maintain stamina during workday, meet deadlines, operate equipment, stay organized. Occasionally will handle confidential informationEnvironmental Factors: Frequently will be exposed to inside heat and cold, chemical hazards, sharp objects/tools, dirt, fumes, gases, odors, dust, grease, oil and mud. Wet/slippery floors/surfaces, may work alone or with others. Occasionally will be exposed to outside heat/cold and humidity. May be exposed to biological hazards, high places/heights, moving mechanical parts, noise Responsibilities Monitor all areas of the department for cleaning needsPerform minor Preventive maintenance for food service equipment.
Weekly cleaning of ovens, steamers and refrigerators.
Monitor state of repair and working order of equipment and report problems to supervisor
