Check out this video for more information on our great company! Location Description Welcome to the World of Whirlpool, a unique and innovative closed-market facility nestled in the heart of Chicago. Operating as a dedicated Training and Conference Center, our purpose revolves around supporting the Sales Enablement team for Whirlpool Corporation. Situated within our building, the 8th floor is transformed into a state-of-the-art showroom, featuring 11 fully functional kitchens. This remarkable space serves as a hands-on training ground for trade partners, including sales representatives from renowned companies such as Home Depot. In 2010, Whirlpool made a strategic decision to create its own showroom floor, eliminating the need to transport appliances to trade shows. At Pyramid Global Hospitality, our role is pivotal in supporting this endeavor. We provide comprehensive hospitality services, including housekeeping, food and beverage offerings, meticulous event setups, and overall operational support. Overview The World of Whirlpool is an experience like no other because we create unique experiences through workshops, hands-on kitchen & laundry demonstrations with experts in the appliance industry. Walk into the World of Whirlpool and begin a journey of discovery. We are both an appliance showcase highlighting a select group of Whirlpool Corporation brands, and a hands-on experience center offering exciting workshops and a chance to interact with experts. BASIC FUNCTIONS: Assume the leadership role in production and execution of the Kitchen and Culinary Team with all daily functions, working closely with the Executive Chef on a shared vision for our team and operational needs. Maintain a commitment for guest service and employee development. Maintain the highest quality while having an understanding for food cost. This position is also in charge of the delegating of daily staff meals, overseeing the cost and execution with the supervising cooks. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE ⦁ Experience: 2-3 years of experience in a kitchen supervisory role or higher. ⦁ Has culinary school or related experience in similar operations. ⦁ High school diploma or equivalent experience/training. ⦁ Meet City and State Sanitation Guidelines. Food Preparation & Quality Control: ⦁ Ensure that all food is prepared to meet established quality standards, recipes, and presentation guidelines. ⦁ Monitor portion sizes and the quality of ingredients to ensure the best possible dining experience for guests. ⦁ Conduct regular inspections of kitchen operations and food storage areas to maintain compliance with health and safety regulations. Inventory & Supply Management: ⦁ Oversee inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and stocking kitchen supplies and ingredients. ⦁ Monitor food and supply costs, ensuring cost-effective use of resources without compromising quality. ⦁ Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely deliveries and resolve any supply issues. Collaboration & Communication: ⦁ Work closely with the front-of-house staff, management, and other departments to ensure smooth communication and service. ⦁ Address customer feedback related to food and kitchen service, making improvements where necessary. ⦁ Assist in menu planning, costing, and the development of special promotions or events. Administrative Duties: ⦁ Maintain accurate records of food inventory, employee attendance, and performance. ⦁ Prepare reports on kitchen performance, staff efficiency, and food cost analysis for management review. ⦁ Assist in hiring and training new kitchen employees as required. ⦁ Menu development and a keen understanding of food cost ⦁ Knowledge of menu preparation, ordering and production organization. Other Duties: ⦁ Ability to transport, handle and/or lift 100 lbs. (NOTE: kitchen equipment and food and non-food items). ⦁ Ability to effectively communicate in the English language; i.e. follow written and verbal directions, count accurately, along with must be able to read and write. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: ⦁ Responsible for all food requisition/ordering, delegation of storage and product rotation. ⦁ Prepare, together with assigned cooks, food items designed by yourself and the Executive Chef to the standards and specifications of our operation. ⦁ Consult with World of Whirlpool Chefs, culinary and/or banquet team on duties regarding mise en place and the food requisitioning for upcoming functions. ⦁ Responsible for the care and cleanliness of all kitchen equipment. This involves creating weekly checklists and delegating tasks to the team. ⦁ Dating all fabricated food items before storage. ⦁ Utilizing all trimmings, excess and unused portions of fabricated food items. ⦁ Ensure that the stations are clean and that all food items are properly covered and stored at the end of shift, along with date labeled. ⦁ Prepare weekly menus with the Executive Chef and Cook1. ⦁ Supervise and participate in the preparation and execution of food for all banquet events, as needed. ⦁ Consult with the Executive Chef on daily and weekly banquet forecasts and special functions. ⦁ Ensure that banquet functions are properly broken down and those reusable items are returned to the main kitchen and put away properly. ⦁ Monitor production and quality levels of all food products. ⦁ Train, develop and maintain employee skills and relations exemplifying the “Be the Difference” attitude. ⦁ Develop and maintain ongoing education programs for sanitation and safety. ⦁ Ensure that the showroom is always client-ready, with all displays, products, and materials properly arranged and maintained. ⦁ Ensure that all activities on the showroom floor comply with company policies, safety standards, and best practices. MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: ⦁ Responsible for all food requisition/ordering, delegation of storage and product rotation. ⦁ Respond to any reasonable task assigned by the Executive Chef or Management. ⦁ Ability to work any assigned shift/work schedule. ⦁ Assist in other areas of the World of Whirlpool & First Floor Experience Center, as needed. ⦁ Knowledge of kitchens and storage areas. ⦁ Knowledge of use, cleaning, safe handling and breakdown of all equipment. ⦁ Receiving food requisitions, checking for food products quality and amount, along with putting items up Compensation Range The compensation for this position is $24.00/Hr. - $24.00/Hr. based on qualifications and experience.
