Overview of Opportunity:

The pay rate starts at $17.15+ per hour with additional overtime available at $25.73+ per hour, based on processing needs. The pay rate for Seafood Processors has a tiered scale based on experience. The schedule is starting at 35 hours per week however there may be significant overtime available. It is not uncommon for shifts to be up to 16 hours per day and significant amounts of overtime to be available based on fish coming through the plant and the production schedule. The job opportunity is a temporary, full-time position. Daily travel to worksites in the area of intended employment is required. The requested temporary workers will be based at 4400 Sawmill Creek Rd., Suite B, Sitka, AK 99835 and will service worksites within the Alaska nonmetropolitan area, including the counties of Sitka; Kodiak Island; Bristol Bay; Prince of Wales-Hyder; Valdez-Cordova, Prince William Sound, Aleutians East Borough. Employer provides transportation to and from all worksites.

Single workweek will be used in computing wages due. Pay period is Bi-weekly. Employer will make all deductions from worker's paycheck required by law. Transportation, including meals and, to the extent necessary, lodging, to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost to workers reimbursed on the worker’s first paycheck. If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, employer will arrange and pay directly for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker's reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economically and reasonable common carrier for the distance involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at the maximum of $59.00 per day of travel. Reimbursement in the first work week for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, Silver Bay Seafoods, LLC H-2B Application H-400-23363-597823 and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H-2B worker (but not included passport expenses or other charges primarily for the benefit of the worker). The employer will provide worker, at no charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job and on the job training in the proper use of tools and equipment.

The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period. Housing will be provided (on a voluntary basis), at $15.00/day for each day the worker works over 8 hours. If the worker works less than 8 hours per day, no room and board deduction will be taken. Room and board include housing, travel from employer-provided housing to the worksite (when necessary), and three (3) meals per day.

Job Description: 

Processors can be assigned to various positions within the production department including, but not limited to, butchering, sorting, filleting, and case-up. Processors are also required to participate in plant clean-up and other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

Perform job-specific tasks:

Education/Experience:

Previous seafood industry experience is a plus. We also welcome employees with no prior experience or training.
