KOH OPERATOR

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 

 High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.   Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.  This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.


 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Howmet Aerospace’s Wichita Falls, TX facility has an opening for KOH Operator.

MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 12 HOUR ROTATING NIGHT SHIFTS, 7:00 P.M TO 7:00 A.M. (2 on 2 off, 3 on 2 off, 2 on 3 off)  

Starting pay rate is $20.54 an hour.

JOB SUMMARY:

Works under general supervision to remove core/shell material from castings, decap, mark heat number and perform low temp operation when required.   Prepares test pieces by following prescribed procedures and written instructions. Continuously works to meet quality customer requirements with minimum inventory.  Works as a team member in a cell environment to optimize product flow.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

•    Using Computers (entering information, etc.)
•    Must be able to read and interpret Product Criteria (PC) and Activity Instructions (AI).
•    Must be able to function as a member of a team and be able to work under general supervision.
•    Must be able to maintain expected quality levels.
•    Comply with all site required policies and procedures including but not limited to:  EHS, Quality, Code of Conduct and the Wichita Falls Employee Handbook. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1.    Verifies that casting and routing card are correct.
  2.    Prepares and maintains proper leaching solution (caustic) concentrations.
  3.    Determines leaching process to be used from PMS, SOP, and activity instructions.
  4.    Decaps castings with hand tools or appropriate decap fixture.
  5.    Separates and arranges castings in baskets/trays to facilitate core removal.
  6.    Loads and unloads leach tanks (autoclave/open kettles).
  7.    Controls and monitors autoclave/open kettle operation and records required information on charts and/or graphs.
  8.    Performs post leaching processes - i.e. water blast and water wash.
  9.    Prepares micro conductivity and micro exam pieces and forms for lab analysis.
 10.    Neutralizes and properly disposes of used caustic/acid materials.
 11.    Performs preliminary core inspection and gauge to ensure core removal and quality of castings.
 12.    Performs own material handling.
 13.    Performs various P/M on equipment as required.
 14.    Maintains clean and orderly work area with a continuous goal to improve the 5S Program.
15.     Performs other duties as required.
16.    Responsible for product quality while performing semi-routine task.

18.    Responsible for safety and must wear required safety equipment.
19.    Must be able to move to various equipment without direction in order to optimize flow.
20.    Must strive to minimize work in progress (WIP).
21.    Must strive to decrease cycle and total departmental lead times.
22.    Must strive to eliminate scrap and rework.
23.     Perform duties as required.
24.     Complies with all EHS rules related to the work environment.
25.     Performs Koh low temp when require for back-up.
26.      Works overtime when needed.

•    Moderate lifting >25lbs,<50lbs.
•    Carrying with one hand.

•    Requires constant standing, stooping, moving and maneuvering loaded baskets.
•      Performs heavy laboring operations such as loading or unloading, manipulating and lifting castings.
•    Must pass Jaeger 2 eye exam.

3.    Work Environment: (Chemical and Physical Exposure)

•    Constant exposure to seasonal temperature fluctuations, dust, dirt, loud noise in substantial amounts, heat, humidity, caustic/acid solutions and fumes.(KOH)
•    Performs heavy laboring operations such as loading or unloading, manipulating and lifting pieces of castings weighing up to 40lbs. in substantial amounts.
