Food Handling Certification Preferred
SUMMARY:The Cook is responsible for preparing food in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, as well as with Elevate Care's established policies and procedures. This role also works under the direction of the Dietitian and/or Director of Food Services to ensure high-quality food service is consistently provided.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Review menus before preparing food.
+ Assist in the development, implementation, and coordination of department policies, procedures, and food service manuals.
+ Interpret department policies and procedures to staff, residents, visitors, family members, and others as necessary.
+ Assist in planning regular and special diet menus as prescribed by attending physicians. Ensure food is available for preparation by cooks.
+ Coordinate food services with other departments as required.
+ Collaborate with the facility's dietitian to implement recommended changes.
+ Ensure all food service procedures align with established policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to complete all essential duties satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below represent the required knowledge, skills, and/or abilities:
+ One (1) year of dietary/food experience in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related medical facility preferred but not required.
+ Illinois Food Service Sanitation Certification required.
+ Must be able to read, write, and speak English clearly and effectively.
+ Must be able to function independently, with flexibility and integrity, while working effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.

+ Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday.
+ Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift at least 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet and carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
+ Ability to taste and smell food to assess quality and palatability.
+ May need to assist in evacuating residents during emergency situations.
