KPD - Regional Quality Manager Lenexa
**Requisition ID:** 175403 **Job Level:** Senior Level **Home District/Group:** Kiewit Power Delivery **Department:** Quality **Market:** Power **Employment Type:** Full Time **Position Overview** Under the direction of the District Quality Manager (DQM) and/or the District Quality Assurance Manager (DQAM), the Regional Quality Manager (RQM) is responsible for effective implementation and execution of Quality Assurance and Quality Control within the assigned region. He/she will manage both direct and indirect reports to achieve quality success within the region. To this end, the RQM will develop strong working relationships with various members of the project team and lend support and guidance. **District Overview** Kiewit Power Delivery is a full-service engineering and construction solutions provider, completing projects of all sizes and complexity. Across North America, our experience spans all transmission and distribution market aspects from high-voltage overhead and underground transmission to distribution design, automation design and construction capabilities. With these broad capabilities, we operate in the electric utility, renewable energy, industrial, and oil and gas markets. **Location** This position is located in Lenexa, KS or Westlake, TX (South Central Region). Ability to travel up to 75%, including but not limited to site visits, client feedback engagement, training, KPD Quality Management Plan audits, Operations Quality audits, and attending conferences as necessary. **Responsibilities** General • Adhere to all job-related and corporate policies and procedures. • Maintain a positive attitude and interact with others in a professional and respectful manner. • Support assigned project teams in all aspects of Quality Assurance, Quality Control and the resolution of Quality Issues / NCRs. • Monitor project team engagement and performance metrics. • Evaluate trends that identify district or project level quality risks. Work with the District Quality Manager to develop and implement mitigation strategies to remove or reduce those quality risks. • Seek-out process improvement opportunities and take action to see them implemented. • Maintain strong, supportive relationships with project teams, partners, and clients. Collaborate in good faith. • Attend project meetings when on-site e.g., Play of the Day (POD), Quality Kick-off, Project Kickoff, Tailboard Meeting, Foreman Meeting, Schedule Meetings, etc. • Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of the corporate, KPD Quality Management Plan and associated Quality Standards. • Possess a basic understanding of the field work associated with each of the KPD major disciplines (transmission, electrical, civil, concrete, structural steel, etc.) as required effectively perform Operations Quality Audits. • Assume other responsibilities, as assigned. Leadership • Provide oversight and direction to assigned Project Quality Managers (PQM). Conduct Right-Time-Feedback (RTF) meetings and performance reviews on-time and with the intended integrity. • Reinforce Quality expectations and solicit feedback for improvement. • Hold project Quality team members accountable to the requirements of the KPD Quality Management Plan. • Ensure projects have necessary Quality resources, including staff, codes, standards, manuals, inspection, and test equipment to effectively execute Quality on their projects. Seek DQM assistance as require. • Research and answer questions of a technical nature and assist in the interpretation of construction codes and standards as needed. • Proactively speak, promote and improve the process of executing Quality within the region. • Develop future Quality leaders by mentoring and coaching interested project team personnel. • Escalate any unresolvable areas of resistance or lack of cooperation with respect to the execution of Quality on the project to the DQM. Quality Assurance • Support the proper implementation of the KPD Quality Management Plan on the projects. • Verify project teams have adequately reviewed the Contract Documents and applicable codes. • Support project teams with the proper development of their Project Quality Plans (PQP). • Participate in project Readiness Reviews and Monthly Operations Reviews (MOR). • Coordinate Quality Audits according to the District Quality Assurance Schedule and conduct them according to the KPD Quality Assurance Procedure. Document all Findings in the system. Initiate Corrective and/or Preventive Actions. • Evaluate Audit Findings and look for Lessons Learned, Best Practices and Continuous Improvement ideas to publish and share with the rest of the company. • Review and approve deviations to the standard Quality Control Matrix and Checklists. • Conduct Client interviews and site walks. **Qualifications** EDUCATION • BS degree in engineering e.g., mechanical, electrical, welding, civil or construction management is preferred or 10-years Construction Operations or Quality Management experience. Preferred • Preferably a minimum of 5-years’ experience as a quality inspector, and 5-years as a quality manager, or quality assurance professional relative to the Utility Construction. • Experience developing and implementing construction quality management programs in the Heavy Industrial, Power, OGC or Water markets. • Professional certifications such as Certified Quality Inspector, Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Quality Auditor. • Working knowledge of construction industry codes, standards, and jurisdictional requirements (ACI, AWS, ASTM, ASME, NEC, etc.) • Experience with database and spreadsheet management, utilization, and implementation. Required • Experience developing and reviewing quality plans, inspection and test plans, audit plans, and other management documents required to execute and evaluate work. • Experience in training, training management, procedure analysis and development, and operational excellence. • Ability to lead through collaboration and influence. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Competent in the Microsoft Office Suite of software. Ability to adapt to job-related software. • Ability to identify requirements associated with construction plans and specifications. • Demonstrated success in managing support staff. • Demonstrated ability to train others and monitor their work for quality and completeness. • Proficient at time management • Detail-oriented and highly organized WORK / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights up to 20 lbs. The position requires good hand-eye coordination; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read. The employee is frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
