Hours Worked: 

Typically, Monday through Friday, forty-hours per week.

However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.

 

Position Summary: 

The Lab Analyst – Beauty Hair Care is responsible for performing testing for hair care products on hair, including the use of hair-science instrumentation and their associated measurements.  Responsibilities include general lab duties; set-up, monitoring, and completion of testing; recording and analyzing data.

 

 

What You’ll Do:

 

Conduct hands-on experiments, develop expertise in processes, work to understand relationships between key input and output variables: Perform hair treatments, as trained according to client SOPs, with shampoo, conditioners, leave-on treatments, and styling products.  Some treatments may include the addition of artificial soil to mirror consumer conditions. Prepare hair for measurements: cut and weigh according to SOP and/or mount individual fibers for measurement Independently run and improve equipment to understand operational limits and develop more robust products and processes: Measure various hair properties using laboratory instrumentation -- ease of combing; friction; shine; damage; tensile strength; color.  Manage samples and document experiment set-up in client Laboratory Information Management system (LIMS). Complete electronic notebooking in client system. Safely and independently set up, operate, and maintain processes and equipment in an R&D environment where the primary product is new technical understanding and prototype products. Ability to complete & interest in peer-peer training on complementary processes, skills, instruments, and methods, as-needed to support the client. Follow the guidelines set forth with clients and in the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures. Comply with clients and Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies. Follows the guidelines set forth in by clients and the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality Manual and Safety / Chemical Hygiene Plan. Adhere to the requirements of the company and client Quality System. Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload.

 

 

What You’ll Need:

 

Degree requirement: Bachelor's Degree in a scientific field Previous industry experience preferred but not required Precision laboratory skills needed, including: patience and manual dexterity for multiple processes, including the single-hair mounting process and capping/uncapping vials for storage of hair, for example; clear understanding of complex hair treatment steps; precision use of hair cutting tools and balances etc. Must have the ability to learn quickly and adapt to client acronyms and hair treatment method vocabulary Must have attention to details on the analysis and results, with the ability to recognize problems or unusual results with input from coach/manager. Identifies better ways to execute tasks to help drive productivity. Must have good customer service skills- job is client facing and performed in client laboratory Must be proficient in basic programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel Written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively in a group setting, with colleagues and clients Organizational and time management skills Ability to perform multiple tasks, including tasks in controlled temperature/controlled humidity (CTCH) environments and frequent treatments in running water, at a controlled-variable sink Ability to train other ATL colleagues working in parallel in the space Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet or exceed deadlines Individual and Team work ethic Positive attitude, self-motivated, high level of engagement Adheres to company values
