Title: Lab Assistant
Location: New Haven, CT
Schedule: M-F, 9 am - 5 pm
Type: Contract to Hire
Responsibilities:
The Lab Assistant will play a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of our laboratory by focusing on media preparation, dishware management, and general lab maintenance. This position is ideal for individuals with a passion for laboratory work and strong organizational skills. Prepare and sterilize growth media, buffers, and reagents following established protocols. Wash, sterilize, and organize laboratory glassware, plasticware, and equipment. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe laboratory environment, including workstations, storage areas, and common equipment. Autoclave biological waste, media, and lab tools as needed. Monitor and restock laboratory supplies, including media ingredients, dishware, and cleaning supplies. Assist in maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards, ensuring all waste is disposed of correctly. Support researchers with basic tasks as requested, including setting up experiments or assisting with sample preparation. Keep accurate records of media preparation and inventory, ensuring laboratory needs are consistently met. Requirements: Associate’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field required Familiarity with basic laboratory procedures and aseptic techniques is preferred. Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a dynamic environment. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Basic computer skills for maintaining records and inventory.
