The Laboratory Assistant, under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Manager, is responsible for providing general assistance to laboratory personnel. Specific duties and skills will vary based on the assigned laboratory section.

Weekly pay Day shift (5:30am- 2pm) Evening shift (2pm- 10:30pm) MUST have 1 year experience MUST have CPT license 

Responsibilities:

Provide customer service in each patient interaction by providing instruction, emotional support or other patient care to obtain specimen. Receives and handles laboratory specimens, equipment and supplies. Delivers samples and supplies to various laboratory departments. Prepare specimen or fluid samples to transport from collection site to laboratories. Uses designated carrier service to send specimen at the end of each shift. Assists with inventory control. Performs basic office and clerical duties as assigned. Prepares and packages samples for transport to referral laboratories. Assisting the laboratory team by cross-training to other positions and assisting when needed Assists laboratory personnel as needed. Performs basic laboratory tests as directed. Correct utilization of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) Assists in maintaining clean laboratory work environment. Dispose of unused specimen in accordance with clinic protocol and applicable laws, standards, or policies. Compliance with workplace policies and procedures for risk identification, risk assessment and risk control. Ensure to comply with HIPAA, CLIA, COLA, and CAP regulatory requirements. Performs other duties as assigned/necessary Performs other duties as assigned/necessary 

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, biology or relevant field preferred High School diploma or equivalent required Phlebotomy certification may be required per state/contract One year experience working in a laboratory setting preferred Current CPR if applicable TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable  Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)  Must meet all federal, state and local requirements  Must be at least 18 years of age
