Job Title: Lab Assistant Job Description We are seeking a dedicated accessioner to support a new local site for the main lab. As a specimen processor, your primary responsibilities will include sorting specimens, entering patient requisitions, labeling specimens, and packaging them for transport to the main lab. This role involves pre-analytical and post-analytical processes of testing, without direct involvement in testing. This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to grow their lab career. Responsibilities + Open specimens and pour off secondary containers to prepare for analysis and testing. + Verify all samples arrived, inspect for any damage, remove and dispose of packaging, and move samples down the line for entry. + Operate multiple computer software systems and remember which software applies to different samples. + Verify names on samples match requisitions. + Handle various samples including urine, blood, serum, plasma, body fluids, and unknown substances. + Create labels and label samples after entry into systems. Essential Skills + High School Diploma (Bachelor's degree or Technical degree is nice to have). + Desire to advance within the lab. + Intermediate computer, typing, and 10-key skills. + Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks. + High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. + Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment to meet established turnaround times. Work Environment The work schedule is 2nd shift, from 3 PM to 11:30 PM, Monday through Friday. You will be part of a team of 10 people on the 2nd shift.
