Lab Clerk
Adecco Healthcare & Life Sciences is hiring for a **Lab Clerk** in **Lake Success, NY** ! This role is onsite / in person. **Type:** 3 month contract, with potential for extension **Schedule:** Monday to Friday 5pm-1am (must be available to work Saturdays as needed 8am to 8pm) **Pay:** $20 - $ 21.71/hr **Location:** Lake Success, NY 11042 **Responsibilities of the Lab Clerk:** • Accessions or verifies previously accessioned orders in the Orders Management System. • Makes corrections to orders as needed before receiving them into the Lab System. • Receives orders electronically into the Lab System. • Places barcode labels appropriately onto specimens received. • Centrifuges specimens appropriately. • Prepares and labels aliquots of specimens as needed for freezing or split sampling. • Distributes prepared specimens to various laboratory departments. • Prepares send out manifests for reference lab work and packs specimens according to the manifest. • Calls the reference lab as needed to verify specimen requirements and to arrange special handling of specimens. • Alerts the supervisor to improperly collected specimens or mislabeled specimens. • Expedites add on testing by locating a previously collected specimen and building an order. • Performs phlebotomy on a limited emergent basis if properly trained to do so. • Maintains a chain of custody for irreplaceable specimens according to Optum policies. • Rectifies reference lab pending logs and posts results that are held in the fix queue. **Qualifications for the Lab Clerk:** · High school Diploma or equivalent required · Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform specimen processing. · Knowledge of container and minimum volume requirements for testing. · Knowledge of environmental conditions that effect or alter specimens and test results. · Skill in labeling and dispersing specimens to the appropriate stations. · Skill in using multiple computer systems and knowledge of how they work together. · Immunizations required: TB, Hep B, Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Flu Shot **Why work for Adecco?** · Weekly Pay · 401(k) Plan · Skills Training · Excellent medical, dental, and vision benefits Benefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and 401K plan.
