Responsible for answering outpatient lab related questions from outpatient nurses, doctors, and patients, and for troubleshooting issues including ordering tests, investigating missing tests, correcting charges, and other testing logistics.
Faxes laboratory results to the appropriate parties in a timely manner.
Contacts facilities including doctor's offices and nursing homes to reconcile specimens sent to the laboratory that lack essential information for processing or are unacceptable for testing.
Provides guidance to outpatient phlebotomy staff and nurses at physician offices on 1) the proper method of collecting various outpatient specimens (blood, stool, urine, swabs, etc., and 2) ordering complex laboratory tests.
