Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lab Manager to oversee our Packaging Development R&D Lab and Pilot Plant. The ideal candidate will perform requested packaging testing, share data with requestors, and maintain records of test results using GLIMS. This role involves supporting or executing trials, creating and maintaining internal test methods and SOPs, purchasing supplies, and ensuring a safe and organized lab environment. The Lab Manager will also conduct tours for Senior Leadership and ensure data repositories are utilized for all tests.

ResponsibilitiesPerform requested packaging testing and share data with requestors.Maintain records of test results using GLIMS.Support or execute trials at the Pilot Plant.Act as the Single Point of Contact for staff.Create or maintain internal test methods and SOPs for each instrument and equipment type.Purchase supplies and consumables as needed, following MDLZ procedures.Maintain a safe, organized, stocked, and tidy lab and pilot plant environment at all times.Ensure data repositories (Eureka, Teams, or other) are used for all tests.Conduct tours of the lab for Senior Leadership.Essential SkillsExperience in managing a Packaging Lab.Strong technical skills and the ability to learn on the fly.Ability to execute independently by leveraging expertise and experience.A minimum of 3-5 years of experience, preferably in the food industry.Strong team player representing the technical organization.Ability to provide guidance and expertise to Junior Engineers.Effective communicator to the Packaging Development Team.Ability to find technical solutions when problems are identified.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with packaging development and testing (material characterization, shock & vibration).Leadership skills.Laboratory management experience.Work Environment

This position is responsible for managing the Lab and Pilot Plant, physically located in East Hanover, NJ. The site has roughly 400 employees, most of whom work a hybrid schedule, except for the labs which are open 5 days a week. The work environment is dynamic and requires maintaining a safe and organized lab space at all times

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $150000.00
